Actually I’ve had to give it up for the next week to ten days. I’ve developed a case of something similar to eczema on my hands and feet and the doc has me taking prednisone and said to stop e-smoking till this clears up. I have always had allergies to cosmetics, lotions, shampoos, perfumes, etc. which all contain PG so the doc thinks it’s the pg in the e-cig carts.

So can I use vegetable glycerin for my e-cigs in place of PG and maybe avoid this allergy issue? Does anyone currently use VG and have you seen a difference in the dry throat, dry skin, etc. I’m figuring if I can use VG then I can keep e-smoking maybe.

Questions (sorry for so many):

WHERE do I get vg for the e-cigs?

Does it produce good vapor?

How do I add nicotine – can’t use the stuff in the carts I already have.

Speaking of carts – I have several boxes of high nic and zero nic carts for the smartfixx super mini that I can’t use and I have several boxes of mixed carts for the pen style (Mel’s).

And if I can’t figure out a way to make this work without using PG, then I’ll have to get rid of a smartfixx super mini with several atomizers and batteries (and charger) along with a pen style from Mel (again with batteries and charger and extra atomizers).

I’m back on tobacco cigs for this week and next. Trying to hold it down to 5-7 a day but it’s really hard to do that. Thanks for any advice and suggestions – I’m really hoping to find a way to be able to keep e-smoking.

Welcome to the world of CaSHMeRe ...

I'm allergic to high concentrations of PG. I actually sold my first Penstyle because I got so tired of the constant sweating, night sweats, the runs, a constant headache, etc...

Then I read how TB was using Veggie Glycerin and decided to get another one and give it a shot. Veg Glycerin is AMAZING !!!

I have no symptoms of anything anymore. I tried dripping 100% glycerin with nothing else and the smoke was insane !!! then I tried mixing about 1/3 to 1/4 of a bickford flavor, and still no issues.

make the switch, i don't think you will regret it.

Hi VP, sorry to hear that you've had a bad reaction to the pg. I use veg. glycerine and so far (it's only been a week) have had no sore throat or other side effects. I do use juice from high nic cartridges with the glycerine to get some nicotine in the mix though. Maybe you could use snus or some other nicotine delivery method along with your ecig if you can't get nic in your vapour.
Good luck with it, hope you feel better soon.

Thank you both!! I'm going to order some veg glycerin today!!

oh and Cashmere, I've had quite a bit of unexplained "digestive issues" since starting e-smoking. I guess that's the pg too because for the last few days of no e-smoking, those issues are now gone.

*sigh* I am so glad there's an alternative to pg. I wonder why the manufacturers don't just use veg glycerin instead of PG in the e-cigs since it seems to be safer and not have the potential side effects.

VP ... I'm totally with you there. Veg Glycerin (VG is what we can start calling it now i guess) is amazing. Cheap, and 100% natural. So far, the only person I have seen that has tried VG and not done well on it is Nazareth. For some reason, it gave him the toots I believe. Other then that, both TB and myself have had no issues.

Sorry to hear of your problems VP, that's too bad.
I have no sideaffects other than I need to drink a lot of water.

V G, does that stand for Vetgetable Glycerin?

If so, does the oil not clog the atoimizer?

Yup. Calling Vegetable Glycerin (VG) now.

And no, 2 days of VG hasn't clogged my atomizer yet.

VG (gotta love that) is no more an oil than PG. One poster even called it an alcohol.

I love the stuff, too, in part because it's so sweet compared to PG's taste. The vapor is great and I mix it with Bickford. VP might have a problem with Bickford, however, since that is flavor AND PG. I see no problem with using an alcohol-based flavor. I've used Cook's vanilla and really, really like the taste. Cook's is alcohol-based. If anything, the vaporizing alcohol helps clean the atomizer, not kill it.

I'd be interested in how Dr. Loi's tests of glycerine turned out. He reported some reactions of his patients to PG. And he reported contact dermatitis from handling the E-Liquid. Patients also got nasty nasal infections after an experiment with putting E-Liquid in a nasal spray.

All is not lost, VP. It just got a little more complicated. I, too, recommend:

1. Stonewall hard tobacco pieces from a tobacco store. Made by Star Scientific in Virginia. 4mg per piece. Wonderful taste and the lowest TSNA score of any substitute substance.

2. Snus, particularly ones aimed at women, like Vertigo or CatchDry or Camel. These can be your only source of nicotine, while you enjoy the hand-mouth action of e-smoking without nicotine in the liquid.

thanks sanneke!!

TB, I wondered about my Bickford's, with the pg in it. I probably better not use it even cut with the veg glycerin. I'm glad to know about Cook's and will have to get some of that. *sigh* what to do with all this Bickford's? I've got pina colada, coffee, chocolate cherry, and vanilla.

Okay so I've got to get some new stuff and just go from there. All is not lost!!

Hey Bob, I noticed that early today. Layman guess: Joe removed the convert-to-link thing but there's still a stray bit of code that changes the word to the case-specific display of 'that' word. Might even be in the cuss word substitution list. I ain't calling him on it though - made an icehole of myself last night...

hello vp

if you have extra flavours ,carts etc. and anything else you can't use. try posting them on the classified or swap forum on this forum. as a buyer i got my first penstyle from making a listing on it. maybe someone will want to buy your extras.

Thanks for the idea! I'm still trying to figure out how to mix the stuff but meanwhile, I've got the carts in the fridge. I'm hoping that I can cut the pg in half with the veggie glycerin and still use the carts up eventually. But if not, I'd definitely like all those carts to go to a good home :)

TB, I believe you like Cook's flavoring extracts. Do you know of a good source? I got Vitamin Shoppe VG and a bunch of Bickford's flavorings. Sadly some are soy oil based. Since VG is so thick, alcohol based flavorings make sense to me. I'm especially looking for Wintergreen. Bickford's has this flavor, but it is oil based. Anyone know of any other suppliers of extracts that are PG or alcohol based? (especially mint-flavored)? TB, what is your recipe for juice using Cook's vanilla?

Janet ... Have you seen Bickfords entire list? They have several "mint" variations that are PG based with no Soy Oil.

Here's a list of them.
Butter Mint – Item #0214
Cherry Mint – Item #0320
Choc. Mint – Item #0313
Peppermint – Item #1622

Other then those, I have not seen anything else Mint/Menthol anywhere extract wise.
