I think the reason for a fresher breath is because we take in much more fluids in the form of water. One of the biggest causes for halitosis(bad breath) is a dry mouth. This is why our breath is never fresh in the mornings. After a glass of water the cotton sensation disappears. Water has a rehydrating effect on the body as well as the mucosa inside the mouth.

Just my 0.02 cents

It appears that PG actually kills both good and bad bacteria in the mouth as well as reduce saliva, which can make your mouth dry and cause bad breath and even dental issues.

Hmmm.. actively seeking a saliva stimulating/producing product (such as Xylitol) to reduce dry mouth, as well as nasal saline solution (such as Sinus Rinse) to reduce excess nasal mucus (also caused by PG). Hopefully those will clear these issues up, along with proper hydration.
