I want to start making my own juice what would be better to use pg or vg with nicotine?

Typically pg unless you have sensitivity to it

The more PG in the mix will make the liquid thinner, and will produce more throat hit and less vapor.

The more VG in the base mix will make the liquid thicker, throat hit will be less and the vapor produced will be much greater.

REDUCED PG : Flavoring is PG based, if nicotine is selected it is added as VG based, and the remainder is filled with VG

100% PG : 100% PG, there is no VG in the bottle. This will produce little to NO vapor, and LOTS of throat hit

100 %VG : 100% VG, there is no PG in the bottle. This will produce little to NO throat hit, and LOTS of vapor

80%PG / 20%VG : This will produce a small vapor cloud , and LOTS of throat hit

70%PG / 30%VG : This will produce a small to moderate vapor cloud , and above-moderate throat hit

60%PG / 40%VG: This will produce a moderate vapor cloud , and moderate throat hit

BEST > 50%PG / 50%VG: This will produce a moderate vapor cloud , and moderate throat hit

40%PG / 60%VG : This will produce a moderate vapor cloud , and moderate throat hit

As long as your recipe calls for PG+ VG Pg is a thinner consistency than VG and is easier to work with. What PG/ VG ratio are you looking at?

If you are PG sensitive you can thin you VG with vodka or any grain alcohol... Not sure if it would make you blow hot on a breathalyzer so use caution

Would like to go for 50/50. Here I can only get vg with nic. In South Africa there are not many places that cater for vaping.

Then you could buy 100% PG. VG USP/ Food Grade can be easily and inexpensively purchased from your local pharmacy or Farm Supply Store. Realize you'll want to purchase a higher nicotine/ mg level as you'll be diluting it with VG and flavoring. Here's a calculator:

Juice Components
Flavoring usually about 5- 15%- could be higher or lower depending on the flavor used.
PG enhances flavor, TH and lung hit- water like - many of us believe PG to be a throat irritant.
VG= vapor and can mute flavor- thick
Nicotine- TH, lung hit and our need for nicotine. The MOST important ingredient in regards to TH and lung hit.
Standards in the industry are 80/ 20 or 70/ 30 PG/ VG BUT many are now using a 50/ 50 PG/ VG as it vapes more smoothly/ less harsh.

I use 100% VG and I don't thin it and have no problems!
