PG/VG Question.

So I have found some juices that I want to try out but a few of them are only available in 70% pg / 30% vg. Is that ok to use in a sub ohm device ?
I think have been using 70% pg in my kanger sub vod for the past week. Just wondering if this will screw it up, I don't want to mess up the new one I'm getting.

I think the worst you’d get is a greater chance of leaking (PG is less viscous, more runny than VG) and increased throat hit (PG doesn’t cause throat hit, but nic does, and VG “mutes” it while PG doesn’t) from the additional PG. If you’ve been using it already with no problems so far, I think you’re okay to keep at it.

I'm in agreement with @bwh79. The worst that might happen is a bit of leaking. And, the way the mfgs. pack the cotton into those coil heads, I doubt the potential is very great.

I would also double check those particular liquids in question. It used to be that PG and VG were always expressed in that order (PG followed by VG). Now, the trend seems to be the reverse of that, VG followed by PG. I only mention this, because high PG is rather uncommon these days. The one exception, that I can think of off hand, are NET e-liquids; where PG seems to remain the preferred carrier.

Also concur with all responses so far. There’s zero chance of causing irreparable damaging to any tank due to using different VG/PG than usual. You could possibly have some coil issues with max VG due to the thickness but nothing which couldn’t be fixed, unless the coil is burned. Which, of course, isn’t too serious.

I'd say there's no harm in trying it, and you won't damage your tank irretrievably. If you have a "beater" mod for such experiments (I do, it's an IPV-5 and was my first mod, it works like a champ but is dented all over the place) I might use that mod for your first experiments, in case you experience catastrophic leaking (I doubt you will, but in case you do) it's going to suck slightly less. You tank will be unharmed.

That's a pretty extreme switch (if the PG/VG numbers are accurate) I might get a small amount to try first if you can to see if you'll like it at all. Or you could get a small amount of VG (unflavored) on hand, in case you need to balance your ratio a bit, like closer to 50/50. Adding a smallish percentage of VG may or may not affect the flavor a lot, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with trying it, some folks vape almost all PG (albeit, usually in more MTL devices) but not always.

Good luck,

Anna

@Stitch45, I would not automatically throw them out. It appears(?) that you might be looking at some of their naturally extracted tobaccos (NETs). As I mentioned previously, a 30P/70V ratio is rather commonplace with NETs, though I can't explain why (I have yet to personally try NETs).

Naturally-Extracted-Tobacco (LLC) is a popular manufacturer, of both NET extracts (concentrates for DIYers), as well as ready to vape NET derived e-liquids. Here's a link to their ready to vape cigar flavors.
This is what they say about using a 30P/70V blend:

They do offer additional ratios for many of their e-liquids:

Finding e-liquids, that work for you, is going to take a bit of trial and error. Order small bottles to start, and see if you like them. You can re-order larger bottles of the ones you like. :)

Read the descriptions, then read customer reviews and comments, and finally pick your poison. I hope you find some keepers!
