    Hi bigflipp,

It's really a matter of what suits you best. Everyone is different, so you may want to try some samples of variations of PG/VG. What Haunted says is true. I use 100% PG. Can't tolerate VG, it's too heavy and, imo, less flavor. More clouds, but, really, that's not why we take up vaping, is it?

I hope you find what works for you.

    Whatever suits your personal taste.

Is the good thing about vaping vs. tobacco : Almost limitless freedom to choose from.

Most commercial liquid makers settle on 55 / 35 / 10 ( PG / VG / H2O ), seems to cover the broadest possible customer base.
With some, you get to pick your own ratios.

Go one further - DIY - and you're in the driver's seat at all times :)

For just starting out, either 50/50, or the more-standard 70PG/30VG, then analyze how that feels to you, after vaping it for several days.

If your throat/sinuses feel irritated or burned, then decrease the PG.

If you feel like you have a hairball in your chest that you can't cough up, or you're coughing up what seems an inordinate amount of phlegm, then that's too much VG.

There seems to be a great deal more variability in people's responses to this aspect, than in how we each respond to nicotine, and that's wildly variable in itself.

In a Nautilus, you're probably going to see better results out of a primarily-PG e-liquid. I've noticed it myself, thicker VG juices just don't wick that great in the Nautilus. Even the Atlantis can get burnt hits if the liquid is too thick.

That said, I don't really like the throat hit that high-PG juices give, and I primarily drip only "Max VG" e-liquid (meaning that it's only VG + the flavoring, which is usually suspended in PG).

**THE NAUTILUS WILL LIKELY BE UNABLE TO WICK ANYTHING MORE THEN 60/40 vg/pg***

I started off going 50/50 at 12 mg...i smoked a pack a day and thought that is what I needed. The throat hit was UNBEARABLE. Felt like someone extinguished a match on my tonsils!

Ended up using 50/50 3mg...Now I used drippers and prefer the 70-95% VG juices.

HOWEVER..the nautilus cannot wick high vg juices well at all. Unless you dont mind taking dry hits and having ruined coils, i wouldn't exceed beyond 60-40 for that device.

Most advice I have heard and what I did is to start with 50/50 blend. Adjust from there to give you the most comfortable and satisfying throat hit. When switching from cigs, it was important to me to simulate the smoking experience as close as possible minus the flavor. 50/50 at 18 mg was perfect for me. Since then I have dialed down the pg and average 70/30. For me, 50/50 has got too harsh since I started. Best of luck!

If you find something you like put it in there. If it is too thick add 1 drop per ml of distilled water to thin the juice. Do it by the tankful not bottle so if you screw up you only screwed up a couple ml's.

You will hear lots of information and misinformation about different stuff. If you like a juice there are ways to make the juice work in most setups. Certain things are mixed at certain percentages to maximize the flavor. So if you like a juice get it, you can always thin it a little with distilled water to wick in your tanks. PG adds a very nominal amount of throat hit. Throat it is more about nicotine level than PG.

The throat hit from PG was not enough even 50-50 at 18mg/ml I need volume. That is where VG is your friend. There are general guidelines but everything else is just personal taste. The only thing that matters is not going back to cigarettes. 50-50 will work to start until you figure out what is going on. I personally would recommend 18mg for someone coming of a 1.5 pack a day camel habit. if you want to step down in a week you can mix with a zero and get a lower ratio.

I'll agree with 50/50 - good flavor, reasonable TH. However, I know I'm a new guy here, but I'm going to disagree with the posts suggesting higher PG for TH. Here's why:

In my experience, higher PG does indeed give higher TH, but it's more of a burn-y kind of TH. Maybe I'm really sensitive to PG (actually I know I am - so take this advice for what it's worth). But, to me, if you want a cig-style TH I'd actually suggest bumping up the nic; like, up to 18 mg. Your body is going to want nicotine and all the other junk in the cigarettes - don't be afraid to go higher in nic. IMO the better TH comes more from nic, and it has the added bonus of satisfying the cravings for cigarettes.

When I started vaping, I was in a similar situation: I smoked half a pack a day of Camels and wanted the strong hit in the mouth and back of the throat. I read all about PG vs. VG as well as how much nic to use per fraction of a pack you smoked, and bought a bunch of PG-heavy juice (30/70 VG/PG, and some 20/80) at 12 mg. After day 2, I woke up with a horrible - HORRIBLE - sore throat. Thought I was coming down with something. And I wanted a cigarette, badly. Two more days went by, resisting the urge to smoke, and drinking tea, emergen-c, all the usual head cold stuff. Didn't work. I decided to try some VG juice on day 4, so I bought 80/20 also at 12 mg. The next day, my throat started getting better. But I was lacking TH and still in nicotine withdrawals. So I bought the exact same juice, this time at max VG and 18 mg. Got my TH. No sore throat. No urge to smoke, AT ALL. Made myself a tiny bit sick from so much nic after a few days, so I was happy I had the 12 mg still around to step down to.

A week later, I tried my 30/70 (VG/PG) juice again - sore throat came right back the next day.

Now I routinely use 50/50, 80/20, and max VG. Made it down to 6 mg, about to step down to 3 mg. Don't need the TH anymore, just needed that to quit the analogs.

P.S. I run max VG in an Aspire Nautilus routinely with no real wicking problems. Gunks up coils like crazy though lol, I go through 1 a week minimum. But still cheaper than smoking!

EDIT: Just re-read and saw the 1.5 pack a day note. If I was in your shoes, I'd start at 24 mg - started a friend up there and it was the first time he said, "I have no interest in going for a smoke." Camel filters pack a strong punch, you'll need something strong to simulate that. Don't be shy to ask for the heavy stuff! (like I was...!)

Throat hit has always been something I only want in muted quantities. I vape high PG juices just because I like the flavor and VG gives me the famous VG heavy lung feeling. I'm usually at 90/10, 80/20, or 70/30 PG/VG.

I also like a small cloud here and there. That VG component provides that. 100% PG is too sparse in the vapor department, so I like a little VG in the mix.
