I’ve been away from ECF for some time. Learned a great deal here about vaping but mostly to educate myself in diy. Four years have passed, there are many forums on the subject now and I see that a new “norm” has occurred at least in the US of reversing pg/vg ratios to read Vg/pg incorrectly. Have the subohm generation effectively rewritten the rules for scientific notation?
The ECF as I recall always ran a pretty tight ship. Just wondering if this pet peeve of confusion is allowed to proliferate unimpeded. I’ve tried to educate the diy group I’m most active in and found many embrace this bassackward practice much to my chagrin.

I do 50/50 so I don't have to know witch one.

So your juice is magical? Which, witch, is which? :D

Seriously, I always specify which number is which. So instead of 65/35 I say 65PG/35VG. Use DW for distilled water. This eliminates any ambiguity.

Quote thingie didn't work for me, but OP said- "Have the subohm generation effectively rewritten the rules for scientific notation?"
And I provided a link to what I know of as scientific notation. Was kind of wondering what one had to do with the other.

I don't think both need listing to begin with. More often than if asked about my juice I answer 80vg or max vg. Language and vocabularies evolve. Vaping is so young it's pretty much a given that the terminology will change as the culture matures.

There is no 'correct' or 'standard' on this. It all depends on who you're talking to and how they express themselves. And as Letitia said, vape terminology is still changing. There have been a lot of terminology changes in the soon to be six years I've been vaping and that's a good thing IMO as it helps keep us old-timers on our toes

BTW, subohm doesn't mean what it used to either. It now has virtually no relation to watts anymore

That leaves a lot of ambiguity though. With "80VG", is the other 20% DW, or 10DW/10PG, or 5DW/15biohazardous waste. What is "max VG"? Technically max VG would be close to 100% with small amounts of flavoring and nicotine suspended in the VG. Though, many people consider "max VG" to be 90VG/10DW and others consider it 95VG/5DW.

All of which only matters if you are mixing. In general conversation it becomes a non issue.

You've always been a difficult lad.

Not trying to be, that is just how I vape. Using a subohm dtl tank with a restrictive tip and mostly closed airflow in a MTL fashion. I consider it a "hybrid" vape style.
