(PG): Does Propylene Glycol PG produce a Throat Hit (TH)?
Well I've filled a tank with just pure USP Grade PG base used for mixing, a Do It Yourself (DIY) kit I ordered from Totally Wicked, and tried it without any flavor or Nicotine. And not what I would call a TH at all! However, it did not feel like just air in the lungs. Increasing the power to a warmer vapor caused it to vaporize much faster & emptied 1ml in no time. Both VG & PG weigh about a gram per ml, so the PG turning into vapor faster suggest that each draw produced more weight. And I believe this is what I felt. However the vapor PG produces is more condensed & therefore somewhat less visible.

(VG): Another tank filled with just pure VG also produced no TH, and felt like air in the lungs. Increasing the power to a warmer vapor did not change this feeling much, if any! And it took many more puffs to use 1/2 ml than the same set-up did with PG. The vapor was more expanded, and therefore much more visible.

NOTE: I mixed a 1/2 ml of 50mg / ml of VG based Nicotine to the 1/2 ml of VG remaining in the tank. So I had 25mg / ml VG base: and DAMN! There's the TH!
Conclusion: Nicotine produces the throat hit.
Also some flavoring may add to this feeling. But the Nic damn sure does!

Ive become almost completely convinced that throat hit is 80-90% flavoring and the rest Nicotine... I vape 70/30 PG:VG at 15mg from HHV... throat hit ranges WILDLY with different flavors. Apple hits pretty strong all the way down to virtually nothing from something like caramel cappucino. Again, both at the same ratio and Nic level.
