what gauge wire are you using? Ive also heard that thick wire that takes longer to heat combined with high power will cause that sudden pop !
-28g kanthal.
-2.4mm.
-6? 7 wraps? Probably 6 based on the ohms..
-1.36 ohms
-Rayon built as close to Q's video build as I could.

I dont think its the gauge, your set up is pretty much same as mine.... I dont always get the spit happen, but occasionally. Only other thing that might be causing this is maybe your contacts ( switch or top) might be tarnished enough that its causing a slow heat up?
Thanks for the suggestion. In this case, it's a week old P3 that shows no signs of issues so I should be good there. I'll try both more and less rayon inside the coil next time. I think I might have too much potentially. Or maybe back to cotton. Might even be tonight

Any build suggestions? Like length of wick?

I use 2.5 coil, 7 wraps of 28 guage. Rayon so tight it's almost pulling coils apart if I tug at it while dry. No issues at all, a sublime vape. I don't think I'm getting lucky either as Plite is my daily and this is my go-to build.

This is a real time build, my version of Qorax's split...

Thanks! I'll do this next time. I'm confident I did have too much rayon in there... Hahaha I really had to dig my fingernail in to hold the coil when putting it in. Taking it out was just as hard! Amazing it wasn't choking it to the point of dry hits. Shows how forgiving the Phenomenon is.

Anyway I rebuilt with my go-to amount of cotton this time and all is starting off wonderfully. Great taste and wonderful crackle! (I didn't see your response til after I rewicked.)

Maybe Ill go back to the "proper" amount of rayon next time.

What can I improve on for my next phenomenon build to stop it from "spitting" at me on the first puff after its been sitting for a few min? I know it happens from a little juice getting on the outside of the coil, but what can I personally improve on/fix in my next build? *Obviously it's not the fault of the Phenomenon - just looking for some build refining advice folks.

Loving the heck outta the Phenomenon so far!
Ive often wondered why some builds "spit" Ive heard its the spacing, or slightly too much liquid, but Ive never found the rhyme or reason. I dont get it often on the Phenom, but do get it on some drippers occasionally and on my "other tank atty", dont want to mention it or might be accused of being a "fetishist". :)

A) Less wicking material inside the coil, and/or
B) High power, or firing with Buck Boost.

You guys are right, it is about excess, loose, but minute, juice built up on the periphery of the coil. As you hit the fire button (especially if it's on a boost mode) those out-of-wick juice droplets get the instant heat. And they pop, same as it'd happen if you put a drop of water on a hot plate.

In the case of a moist wick it is a wholesome process ~ the wick performs as a wet rag. Place that on the same hot plate and it'f produce vapor rather than pop. Well, obviously till it remains moist - else it'd catch fire.

Honestly, watch Qorax's Erlk or other build vids. He twists it through really nice but snug. Those vids can be used for many models and brands.

True.

90% of my builds across my attys are the same. Rayon is my preferred wicking material - and I pack it tight, with puffed shoulders, in all those builds not just alone in the Erlk.
