Heyas Moorea,

So I never did get that tank review done for ya back in March/April before I had to drop off ECF. However, I can give you one for the Cobra. :D

I must admit, I got back to the find new gear game after your 1st cobra launch. Matter of fact I didn't even know you sold them until after I had located the source for them when I was evaluating what type of genisis rba to get. I was elated to find that Phiniac was the US distributor for them and tried to wait for you to get more stock.

It appeared it would be a while before Phiniac was going to have more stock and I ran out of patience (eek), so I ordered 2 from the maker directly when he had some 60 in stock. Turns out that my order shipped out of the same batch your current stock shipped out of. I was surprised you got your batch in 2 days, turns out I got mine 2 days later. So some 4 days later, I've got a handle on this RBA, spent maybe some 24hrs of time working on it over those 4 days, and vaped some 15 ml so far through one. Not a ton of time for a complex review, nor am I a master of RBAs to give it a review from that perspective. However, here's a review from a total newb genisis style RBA user.

I also submitted the following for use on your website. Oh and you know I'll be ordering custom tanks from you in the near future, probably a 3rd cobra to boot. :D

Long time Phiniac customer, total genisis newb.

Let me tell ya, took me 2 wicks and 9 coil build attempts, but that last one works awesome and it is only going to get better. If I can get this thing rocking, so can you. The draw is just right for me, and one of the reasons I went with the cobra. I kept reading that the draw was airy on the other devices and I found I liked a tighter draw as I tried other products out.

With a boge carto being an airy draw, and an hh.357 LB being a tighter draw, I'd rank the cobra up there with the draw of the hh.357 -- only a lot smoother.

The draw is like buttery smooth. I'm currently using #400 mesh solid wick (#500 on the way) and a 5/6 wrap of 32 AWG kantal (think I'm going to drop down to 30). I get 2.2 ohms from the coil and vaping between 9 and 11 watts.

There are plenty of techniques for making the wick/coil, and what I found that worked for me best was using the Petar K drill bit method to make the coil. The wick hole on the Cobra is 2mm, and since I couldn't find any bits in metric, I used a 5/64" drill bit which is 1.98mm (close enough). My biggest noob mistake was I wasn't making the wick tight enough to loosely fit inside the coil. Once I shrunk it down a bit more, my hotspot/shorting issues vaporized. :) Oh and I use a MAPP torch to lightly oxidize just the top half of the wick after it is rolled. I don't quench, just a quick bath in boiling water to clean it up first and I do fold over about 1mm to clean up the outer edge of the wick to avoid loose strands shorting on the coil.

Anyhow, you want the wick to basically float inside the coil and you can tell if it's still too big if you have to twist it to get it inside. If sized right, it won't require much twisting to drop in, yet won't just free fall to the bottom of the tank. When I hand wrapped the coils, I still got it too tight and ended up with the top coil eventually burning a hole in the wick.

Some other tips I found along the way to my first working setup.

1. Check the air hole. I have two cobras, and the first one just wouldn't produce much vapor. Turns out the air hole had some debris inside that let air out but not in so well - like a one way check valve. I didn't find this out till I built my second one and went wait, the draw isn't as tight as the other. I just used a guitar string to clear it out. Bamb, what I thought wasn't a good setup started producing plumes.

2. Check the o-rings installed on the unit before 1st assembly. I got one that had the bottom o-ring wrong (was using the smaller o-ring that is intended for the Colored/SS tubes). The symptoms were when I vaped, air was going into the tank from the bottom and juice was leaking out.

3. Even if you got all the hotspots out and have it working, if you start to get a metallic taste or any hint of burning and have ruled out wicking issues, more than likely it has developed another hotspot while in use. I ended up reworking the coils and getting the hotspots out, and 5min later I'd be back at it again. Save yourself some time and start over. Pull the coil, make a new one and ensure your wick is not too snug on the wick.

So in a nutshell, awesome device. Quick, order yourself a cobra today and add yet another top quality piece of gear to your kit.

I should add that it was a pleasure and a pain to read all of this thread, all of the 500 SS, 635 SS, every coil/wick thread I could find here on ECF, but it sure did make the transition to a genisis style much easier when I finally had it in my hands. Think I ended up reading through some 600 pages of thread info and watched way too many videos. OCD anyone?

I can't wait to see which design(s) you pick! We have added some new ones since you have been around.

Yes you have, even added color and phosted. Which brings me to my current state of having a few problems.

One is that I can't decide between the ones that say buy me, no me, pfft me!

The other problem is that I don't have enough pvs/cobras to put them all on if I were to just get them all.

Anyone got a dart board? :D

I'd line up a row of hot chocolate, mark each cup with a style and toss marshmallows into the cups. The ones you make are the ones you buy. Dartboard is too "normal". Think outside the box I always say.

Just when I was feeling down having to make the long drive to town and back yet again, you managed to put a smile on my face.

Which ones do you like. I know your taste pretty well and because I have seen them all in person I can help you narrow it down

Well, order placed. Won't be too much of a surprise. I went with my 2 most favorite designs that I got on my phiniac tanks, but with color this time. I already know that I gravitate to them the most as I would vape that particular tank more often even if it had a flavor I didn't feel like vaping loaded just because they, well they rock!

Love it! Well, when I pop for a 3rd cobra, I'll select the style tank I'll use with the following method... inspired by yankeebobo. :D (Oh and he too got a smile out of me Moorea)

1. Take inexpensive cystal glasses and draw on outside design of tank I'm interested in.
2. Line em up.
3. Play extremely loud music while vaping away.

First one to shatter is the one I'll get. Oh and if more than one shatters at the same time, I'll repeat process and place glass behind motorcycle, rev till one pops, there we go. :)
