The aluminum caps were short lived. We got 10 to test and once it was announced we got tons of emails and complaints that they were "unsafe" but then got tons of emails and complaints saying they were. I couldn't find anything conclusive one way or another, but we decided that with all the different opinions we will instead to Stainless Steel caps instead. Just have to wait until we can afford them!

Yes, some grades of aluminum are safe and some are not. Some contain lead. You just have to know what grade you are working with. Don't blame you though. Some lower grades of ss are also not without risk, but I'm sure after having to back out of alum, you are doing your research. Can't wait to see them :) :)

We didn't have to back out of aluminum, we chose a good grade. I just felt with all the negative comments surrounding the aluminum it wasn't worth it. We only did aluminum in the first place because we got several requests. And several people felt they could not afford SS. The SS we will be doing when the time is right will be surgical.

Sorry for the wording. I did understand that the reason it was shelved was "peer pressure". I am sure yours were fine. I just meant some people who don't know there's a difference just assume it's all bad news. Sad really. Yep, tough to argue with the surgical implant ss!! lol

moorea, the ONLY way to get in the waterpark is to stay there. They call it "private" .... Oooo. LOL It's owned by the local tribe, and it's big $$$.
The rooms are cool, we have stayed in the "Family Suite" (2 Q-beds), but girls didn't like me right there. Then we got the "Kid Cabin" (1 Q-bed and bunk and twin in this little "cabin" thing) but I could still hear them up all night blabbing.
So this time we got the "Majestic Bear Suite" ..... 2 queen beds out in the main area, and a separate bedroom for ME!!! I told them as long as they didn't break anything, or leave the room, I didn't care what they did, and shut my door! LOL

We have one of those "have to stay here to play here" water parks in NY too. Sad, was really wanting to go but like u said, kinda pricey for being an hour away. Birthday weekend is a great excuse! Congrats on finding a room that made everybody happy - including you! ;)

That is one thing I miss from living in New York, being close to Six Flags Great Adventure. It was close enough that you can leave in the morning, spend a FULL day and be home in time for bed. And that is all you would want to do when you got home because you were tired! Water Rides, Roller Coasters, Cotton Candy!!! The closest thing like that to me now is in Idaho, an amusement park called Silverwood. It is 3 hours from me, and not much in the way of "stay and play" most people camp when they go. Not that I don't enjoy camping, but after a long day in the sun on the rides eatong junk food, I prefer a soft bed. Camping trips and amusement parks should be separate ventures!

Paislia - it was a very nice, very large room. And the separate bedroom was great .... but also very $$$, so it will have to be reserved for special occasions. Birthdays and good grades are about it. :)

I'm definately going to take the trip. But for the distance I will need to combine it with something else and find a time when the kids have more then the two day weekend. It is just to far to spend that kind of money, check in that late after a full days drive and have to leave the next evening to get the kids to school on time!

Hmmm good grades. I try to keep good grade rewards at about $50! Wish I was your kid, I got good grades!!!

LOL I got good grades also, but they were expected, so we didn't get anything but a "good job". LOL

My daughter is a straight A student and for the most part I don't get involved with her schooling at all. I don't ask her if she has homework and I don't ask her what it is. She is on auto pilot without any parental intervention when it comes to school. However my son has ADHD and he struggles very much in school. He tries is hardest and works to the very best of his abilities, so when he does well and brings home an "A" that means that he woked very hard (which he normally does anyway) So we do reward him come report card time for A's or improved grades. Usually with a new xbox game or something in a similar price range. Although no one ever rewarded me for good grades!

However, when he asks me if he can do a chore in the house and I say yes, he then asks how much I will pay him... I always say with a thank you! Yesterday he asked if he can get an allowance for doing his own laundry. I told him no that no one pays me to do my own laundry. He then offered to do my laundry if I would pay him. I then had to explain to him that no one paid me for doing his for 10 years!

LOL My daughter wanted to make $$ for iTunes songs, so I told her she could pick up fir cones from the backyard. and I would pay her $1 a bin ..... that lasted about 5 mins and 50 cents worth.
I oversee her homework, reports, you name it, since she's in Adv Placement and a couple grades ahead in math. Even got her a tutor one summer. I've told her numerous times "failing grades in this house are not an option". I'm not all that strict about alot of things, but school work is one of those areas where I am a real bear.

Maybe you've already seen this Moorea, but there's an indoor water park in Missoula.

We live in the sticks, but not nearly as far as you do. We're still 15 minutes from an (expensive) grocery store, 45 minutes from Walmart, 2 hours from Mall of America, and 5 hours from the Wisconsin Dells, which has to have the most waterparks in the US. I completely relate to a 2 hour drive each way for shopping. (Huge culture shock at first, but Amazon has made things easier than years ago when we moved here.) It was nice to have the option to run to the Dells for a getaway when the kids were growing up.

We went to a vape meet up in Minnesota yesterday. Really nice people and we got to see all kids of mods, Darwin, Provari, iPro, GLV-2, even a GG. We're also planning to go to the VapeBash in Chicago on March 30-31. I recommend finding a meet up if you have the chance.

I hear you, we have a wood burning stove in almost every room. We live in a log cabin and it isn't the best for insulation. When building the house I made the mistake of trying to save a few dollars by putting in electric cadet heater. It turns out that electic is REALLY expensive in Montana. Summer bills aren't that bad but if we heat via the electric heating system by early winter the bills get up to about $900. Last year I put an end to that, set all the heaters to 40 degrees so the pipes don't freeze, got the kids heating blankets for their beds and told everyone if they are cold to either light a fire or wear a sweater and long johns! Only problem is in order to truly heat the house with the stoves we require a cord of wood every three weeks and we ran out about a week ago :p so heaters are back on, but I have them set to about 59 degrees so a sweater is still needed!

Do you have the option of propane? Have you covered your windows with that heat shrink plastic? I'm pretty sure I'd be grouchy at 59, and yeah electric is crazy expensive in the sticks. Ours is $300 a month with propane heat.

That is why we put in geothermal. I love it. We were on heating oil and with a baby in the house - 70 degrees was as low as we dared leave it that winter. almost 2k a month in heating bills justifies a 15k geothermal system pretty quick. lol I love it - flip a switch and it runs backwards for a free bonus of central air!

My Daughter is amazing the only thing we do regarding school is got to the required events and the parent teacher meeting as well as sign her report card. Since she was ten she has wanted to get a scholarship for an Ivy league school and be scientist and she is driven. I figure as long as she keeps getting A's there is no need for us to interfere. 2 years ago she did ask for help with spanish, she would bring out her words and ask us to quiz her. But now she doesn't even ask us to do that. It's a good thing as well, because our son takes up all of our parental school work time. And sometimes she even offers to help us out and works with him. She is not an Angel, she gets into more then her share of teenage trouble... just not school related!

We kind of sort of do. The entire house however is setup for electric, stove etc and it is really a choice we should have made while building if we were going to go that. Because it is a completed log cabin, running duct for propane heating would be very difficult now as we do not have studded drywall to run the duct through and would have to tear up our hard wood floors to run duct through the flooring.

It is totally possible for us to heat the house with the wood burning stoves, sometimes they chase out of the room! We just have to get more on the ball and cut more wood in the summer time. Problem is we prefer to play in the summer time and always manage to not cut enough.
