I'm planning on trying this later today ... what department in Bed Bath and Beyond would one find the cheesecloth in?

Erf, the nearest BB&B to me is like 15 miles away. Might just go looking at WalMart. I would imagine they carry it as well.
You may not even have to go that far. Last time I got cheesecloth, I got it at the grocery store in the baking aisle.
I've not tried it, so I'm not sure it is exactly the same thing. But you can find cheesecloth in the paint aisles of Lowes, etc. It is used to strain the lumps out of paint.
Looks like I'm going to be out near enough to where one of them is anyways, so I'll duck in. And then Lowes as well actually. Went looking in my tool bag, and I don't have a small enough pair of dikes for doing the wire cutting. I'm sure I can find a pair in their inexpensive tool section. Then EPCOT yay for fireworks.
Its in the kitchen department, but after some consideration I prefer the plain white cheesecloth that can be purchased at almost any gorcery store. Look for it near the baking supplies.
No dikes needed for wire cutting, any pair of scissors is plenty to cut the wire to length. You can use scissors to trim the ends after you wrap them to the posts,or even nail clipper, or better yet, just apply a bit of tension and twist them around in a circular pattern. They will break off very cleanly.
Walmart had it in the craft department, but it was labeled as being usable for baking needs. Looks pretty plain and white. And yeah, no need for cutters I see.
Here's my first attempt. It's not pretty, but it works. Multi-meter on the screws gives me between 1.9 and 2.0.

I have to try using it again and see.

I didn't use the drillbit method, I wrapped it straight, and I'm using 34ga doubled over and twisted. Vapes like a MONSTER.
I've been making the braided 34Awg coils for a while now Dave, they work super and are monsters, very strong too when you braid the wire, I've never blown one yet.
Wierd, for some reason my coil sank down almost to the bottom of the cup on my phienix, and i was wondering why it was flooding so easy! Raised it back up and great vape again.
Keekers, you CAN do this....I have it figured out. Just keep at it....don't give up. I'm using organic cotton yarn now as a wick, and I'm loving it. Once you make a good one, you'll love the Chalice. If you still have trouble, PM me and I'll make you some coils and send 'em to you. Also, you can go to Avid Vapers and they have pre-coiled wicks for sale for about a dollar apiece.....worth a shot.

Glad I found this. I think this would be much easier for me to change out the wick on my Chalice. With my horizontal coils, I ended up tearing them up trying to replace the wicks. I know it inexpensive anyways but this makes it more inexpensive. Tee Hee.

Yeah, I really like the horizontal coil idea. And cheesecloth is so cheap, makes it easy to change flavors if you're going from something strong.
As for the drill bit, that works well, but I'm going to stop at Lowes this evening after a Dr appt and see if they have a small bolt that would work. I'm thinking with the right thread pattern, it would make it even easier.
Oh, and going to scour Amazon for an inexpensive hands free magnifying glass.
So i took your idea and used it to make my phoenix a dual coil, wow lots of vapor.
Amazing tutorial. Just followed it and was really easy. Working way better than anything I have built with the little knowledge I had before.
