Didn't take any pics when the rust was all over the posts and wicks. I've cleaned it all off and re wicked them. But here is the pic after that. If you look close you can still see some rust on screws I couldn't clean off. Most of the rust was coming out of the post holes like gung spreading all over. I expect it to happen again so will try to remember to make pics. I'll take magnet to it and see what metal and whats not.

PS - hmmmm...looking at the pic posted, it got re sized to see much details. Ech..next time.

Not brass, it's rust for sure. At first I thought it was just ejuce residue so I ignored it but than I've seen it when I was going to rebuild coils. Most of it was coming out the the post holes and saturated the wick as well. I could not taste anything strange either. I don't think rust is a problem heath wise, we are full of iron anyway but it surely is ugly and can cause bad connection to the coil.

I would contact the place you got it from and show them the pics. At the very least you might get a store credit or a refund for the price. (Lord knows you don't want it replaced with another one.) At most the vendor will stop selling them - for good reason.

Now I think I know why the real Phoenix costs so much more than a clone.

That's really unfortunate- my Phoenix clones are my most-used RBA's, and now I'm nervous that it might happen to me too. But with all of the times I've washed them out, reloaded with juice, flooded them, etc., I've never had this happen. One quick observation: it looks as if the post that has rust on it is not surrounded by an insulator; both of mine have a bit of plastic material surrounding both posts, although in some ways that's not exactly ideal either- but it IS there, and I'm wondering if maybe yours was defective in this way...

Oy that is scary. That seriously makes me wonder about clones. You're not entirely sure what you're getting. With the real american made models you're getting quality, and relief in knowing they're made with proper material and they're safe.

For what it's worth I tested every section of my AGA-T to ensure it was SS, and it is. Even the screws. Still can't wait until I get a higher quality genesis.
