Started getting terrible burnt hits on my tweaked Ravens. Oh Nooooooo! What the hell!
Then I discovered I somehow got my Gripper up to 3.9V when I usually do them at 3.1 or 3.2 with the Gripper. All is good again. Vapin like champs. Maybe they should recess those buttons so it wouldn't be that easy to crank it up accidentally. That gripper really cooks. I can use a 3.7V ego batt no problem but not that setting on the gripper. Or the Rocket for that matter.

pbusardo has a couple of reviews on products that use pulse width modulation. I bet the gripper is one. The really only put out about 6v but they pulse the 6v so that the average is what ever you're setting is. According to his reviews, the PWM style devices hit harder than what you would expect from the setting.

Yes they do hit harder and personally I enjoy them more than my Provari. Just gotta be careful with those settings. That's one thing I really like on the ProVari. It's impossible to accidentally change the voltage without intending to do so.

thanks for the juice lube hint....this is my first tank and I think I am in a big learning curve..lol. I checked the ring and yea, it looks like there is a piece out of it on one side. it is the one where the tube slides in on the bottom so maybe that is where it is leaking...thought it was at the cap. Not going to load it up to see and waste more juice. Thanks penquin, I will check there to see if I can get another one. I got two of these and have just been playing with the one, so I will try to be more careful with the other one. Thank you everyone for helping this noobie, hopefully I will get it all down soon and then I can help other noobies...lol.

So, I found a few minutes to tinker and following in the foot steps of others. I pulled a strand of wick out. It was thicker than I expected and burnt in the middle. Low and behold the dry hits seem to have stopped. The vapor production is okay but there's a lot missing from the flavor.

I pulled apart an old 808 BC. The center post is a little too long without grinding on it to get it to set in there securely. I got it in as far as possible and put the seal on top to hold it in place. The seal sticks out of the carto tube a bit so no room for a tip, so I had to purse my lips and do the best I could. The flavor came back this way, in fact it was very similar to a regular Phoenix XL. so if I can find the time to file down the end of the center tube to fit in the collar inside this would probably vape pretty well. I pulled the tube back out and kept vaping with the previous okay results.

I couldn't get it to fire on anything but an eGo twist. After vaping it there for about an hour I decided to try to pull the pin a little and put it on my Silver Bullet. It fired but went back to the familiar cycle of good, good, okay, dry, puff into it, good, good, okay dry. So, I used a paper clip and gently pushed up on the coil. Now it's back to okay performance with out dry hits.

I think I'm done tinkering with it and I'll wait in eager anticipation for it to drop again in ALPHA.

You can test for leaks with plain water but turning it upside down would possibly allow the water through the carto and out the top ( since it is so thin compared to PG/VG juices ).... so don't tip it over too much, just enough to test the other seals

... and as already mentioned, you can get replacement O-rings from a lot of home supply stores ( home depot, lowes, ace hardware, harbor freight etc )

I put an 808 carto in my Raven and it's vaping great on an Ego style battery. No leaks seems like a very solid tank. This was after I gave up on using it out-of-the box. I had a few decent vapes from it, but then that awful burnt taste. My eyes aren't good enough to mess with trying to "fix" it, so I just threw a regular carto in it, and it works.

Maybe some type of oil like vegetable oil would work better? I dunno, though, it's pretty thick. Maybe milk? Either way, it's always good to know what the fix is for some random issue in case it pops up again.

I actually like using something thin like water because if it doesn't leak with that... it won't leak with other liquids.... I just keep my finger over the top and bottom of the carto so it doesn't go out those directions since I'm only testing for leaks through the O-rings

CE3 phoenix BC tank mod - YouTube
this is a tank mod i dd a while back, trying to get a CE3 into a tank. worked OK, but what i really need is a carto tube that CE3 guts will fit into with a drip tip. DCT tube will take guts, but no space for a tip. Dont know if any other cartos are longer? any help appreciated :)

Hi DickRRR, Instead of trying to make the carto fit the tank why not cut the tank to fit the carto? If you don't want to cut one of your favorite tubes just mod a syringe tube.
