I have my first RBAs coming in, a Fogger V3, Taifun GT, Taifun GS, Kayfun 3.1. They should start arriving next week! :vapor:

As they are my firs rebuildable tanks (i only have experience on my 5 RDAs), i suspect i will need some practise before i get the setups right, you know, trying out different wick diameters, silica, cotton, mesh, etc. And these "experiments" are expensive in terms of e-juice wasted, "oops! its leaking!, take it apart, put a thicker wick in there", "dang! its dry, maybe remove some cotton?" you know the drill.

So i was thinking i could use someting instead of ejuice that is cheaper and i wouldnt mind wasting untill i get it right.
Of course it wouldnt have to taste good, or produce a ton of vapor, im only testing wicking. Just as long at it has a similar consistency to ejuice, and its not toxic, it should do fine.

What could i use instead of e-liquid to do this initial tests? i was thinking pure VG, but its a lot thicker that the liquids i normally use, wich are usually 70/30 PG/VG.

Any suggestions?

EDIT: im thinking VG is the way to go, but what can i use to cut it down and make it thinner? do i add water? how much?

you can get VG for ~$4 and some distilled water for another buck or so. mix it at least at 70% vg. about a fiver and you're good for lots and lots of tests.

here ya go... http://www.walmart.com/ip/10417582?...33582510&wl4=&wl5=pla&wl6=19880599990&veh=sem

EDIT: doh! you got walmart in cancun?
shure! i got 3 walmarts here. they dont have half of the stuff the usa walmarts have, but we have them
getting VG is no problem. Its the PG i cant get.

Ill try the VG + Distiled water recipie.

thanks!

yeah, that'll work. the guys in the DIY forum do it all the time. no problem. more than welcomed. if you have any more mixing style questions, feel free to pop over there for a stent. there's a lot of good people that frequent that area. pretty much all are super down to earth.

i would definitely start with 90% VG and add water as necessary. easier to add a little water than a lot of vg. water's cheaper too. ;)

PG is used for ketosis in cattle. Check with a vet or feed store.

yes. and i like the suggestion. but as in my first post, my first thought on that is you'll wind up with a gallon and/or $20 out of pocket just for pg for wicking tests. then you have to add vg if you do a pg/vg blend for your usual vape. with the vg, you can get about a pint for a few bucks, add water to thin it out and mimic a pg/vg blend and you're good for a fiver.

though, if you're going to start mixing your own juice, pg is very handy for all your pre-mixing taste tests to pin down your flavor %.

As an alternate, I would just use up the juice I had that was okay, but I wouldn't mind if it were gone, either.
Thanks for the suggestion.
I do have some liquids i dont use anymore. However they are part of the "emergency stash". Reserved for shortages, economic flukes, delayed shippments, and other vaping nuisances.

You know, im considering entering the DIY world in the near future (you cant imagine how expensive e-juice is in this country), and it would really help to be able to get PG locally.
Ibe looked ketosis on the web, and it seems to be some sort of medical condition?

I would really appreciate if you could elavorate a little more on what its use for cattle is, what is ketosis, etc. so i know what to ask for when i go to the vet store

thanks!

I'm not a vet or a cattle rancher. We have a store here called Tractor Supply that sells it in the livestock section along with horse supplies. It says on the gallon jug that it is for ketosis in cows. wikipedia covers this in the last section as common in dairy cows after giving birth
