Hey... is there any chance someone has a photo they can post of the INSIDE of the 510/tube hole, after the pin's been removed? My repair kit came in the mail today, but when I removed the old tube, 510 pin and gaskets I found a huge disgusting mess. I'm not knocking the person I bought the mod from (thanks colt!) because this thing was obviously loved to death, but I think this little guy might have to be mailed to Maine.
Basically when I look up inside the hole from inside the mod, I see little gummy shreds, and I can't tell if it's like dried juice, silicone, glue, or all of the above. I tried to remove some of it, but stopped and figured I'd ask for a photo.
Long story short, I'm trying to find out if the inside of that hole is supposed to be bare metal, or if I'm supposed to be seeing a permanent insulator in there. If it's the latter, it's been obliterated from use over the years and I guess I need a new one put in.
Thank you all. Shame I still can't try this sucker.
