Ive been checking this forum for a while and I decided to join and begin posting. Lots of great info!

I would love to hear some stories from you have switched from cigs to vaping and positive changes you noticed such as increased energy, lower blood pressure, etc. I am new to vaping and I really believe I can quit smoking. I know that because I am still using nicotine there will still be some negatives. I talk to some who say they feel no different than they did when they smoked, and others who feel much better.

Thanks everyone, this will help encourage me next time I crave a cig to be strong!

AndrewG, welcome :)

For myself, switching was extremely easy once I found my flavor. Our daughter sent my wife and I a KGO starter kit with a couple flavors. They were nasty to me so that was the end of that. Except I realized if I had a flavor I liked that might actually work. I ordered some green apple and when that came in I didn't have another cigarette (there was an out of juice issue that got me back smoking, but if I have juice I have no urge to smoke)

I don't get winded on the stairs anymore. Blood pressure is lower. By that I mean I stopped taking any medication and it is reading perfect. Before it was high even with meds controlling it. Sex is better (amazing how much being able to get air helps during any physical activity)

My 3yr old got a power wheels from Santa. Today I maintained 5 mph for almost an hour keeping by her while she drove around the neighborhood.
If I would have tried that while on 3 PAD Marlboros. ... an ambulance would have been required.

This might not be the most motivational post in the world, but it gets worse before it gets better. The first week for me personally was rough, and i do mean rough. My throat hurt, my chest hurt, and i felt little energy. it was a struggle. About two weeks later i started feeling much better. All the pains and soreness were gone, i would try to drink lots of water and maybe use some cough drops to get through that first week. After that i noticed i had way more energy and was in a generally better state of mind. A week or two later i went running with some friends and mid way though realized that i could run for more than an 8th of a mile without a stabbing pain in my lungs and i nearly cried. It's also made things like working out, swimming, and playing sax much easier. I can't guarantee it'll be that way for everyone, but it sure made me feel better in daily life and when doing strenuous work. i'm not sure my blood pressure has improved, my legs and arms will go numb very easily with weight on them, but i don't think this is a consequence of smoking in the first place because i only smoked around 6 or 7 years.

How much better you feel when you switch from smoking to vaping will depend on just how much of a toll smoking has taken on you. It will be different for someone who has smoked heavily for 30+ years than someone who's smoked less for a shorter period of time.

I'm in the former camp, having smoked for 36 years, quite heavily for much of it. I had a bad smoker's cough and chronic bronchitis. It's GONE. I definitely have more energy/stamina. I sleep better at night. I rarely get tired in the afternoon. I generally feel 10 years younger than I did when I was still smoking. At 55 that's a good thing. I never had an issue with blood pressure, so nothing to report there.

Looking at your profile, you're only 31 years old. Smoking probably hasn't beat you up that badly yet. You may not see as dramatic a change as some of us old farts. ;)

I smoked 2-3 packs of Marlboro Redsa day and chewed 2-3 bags of Red Man a week for near 4 decades. For me I had been trying to quit for years. I would go cold turkey then back in a month, I would use the patch then back in few weeks. The only thing that worked (For me), was when I started vaping. I can taste food 100% better, I can smell 100% better. I don't have smokers cough anymore. I get less colds/flus. I have more energy. I'm not a walking ashtray that stinks to high heaven. My car /clothes don't stink of cigs. My teeth are pretty much had it though. Chewing can do a number on them doing it 40+ years.

All in all, vaping actaully is saving my life. And I'm having fun doing it.

I smoked for 37 years. I stank, my fingers were stained, I had smokers cough, my ability to do aerobic work was declining and I knew I had to do something or it was going to be bad. A month after switching to vaping the first three were gone and my aerobic capacity increased. I never had a blood pressure problem.

2 1/2 years later my quality of life is much better than when I was smoking and addicted to cigarettes. IMO if you can switch to vaping before you cause the damage to yourself that I did from smoking you will be better off. I weaned off nicotine a while back and at this point I could wean off vaping if I had the incentive to do that. If I can do this so can you :)

Stay strong my friend :thumb:

Hello Andrew and welcome! I was killing myself by smoking cigarettes (40+ years). Now I know I will not die with a cigarette in my hands! How 's that for physical change? I have not craved a cigarette since the day I started vaping! So take the plunge my friend and join the club ;)

Oh yeah.....gum disease symptoms ALL cleared up :)

The first physical improvements I noticed after I quit smoking were related to improved oxygen in the blood. I could exercise more without getting winded. I busted a knuckle good while working on the boat and saw in change in the color of my blood. My blood used to be dark red in color and now it is bright red. I confirmed this later the first time I went to a blood drive. No more bag of dark red blood. My blood used to be loaded with carbon monoxide. I think the blood bank used it only for serum.

My skin color improved and there are no more tar-stained fingers.

No more wheezing at night. That is completely gone.

Me teeth stay white between visits to the dentist and I no longer form a lot of dark plaque on the teeth. The dental hygienist notice a huge difference.

I still have an urge for that first nicotine vape in the morning but the sense of urgency is much less than when I smoked.

I am 31 years old, smoked since I was 16. Smoked a pack and a half a day the last couple of years and had my last cig on Nov 11. I have suffered from chronic headaches for years and have noticed I no longer have daily headaches. I still have them, but they are rare. I also sleep better and am loving not smelling like a cig. I am also a big sweets eater and have noticed I like the sweeter flavors but have stopped eating sweets (mostly). I'm really hoping that will help me lose weight. So far all positives and I hope you have the same result.
