That is a Fun Census Fact.
Seeing that in 2017, Mexico City had a Total Population of around 8.8 Million.
And LA for the same year had a Total Population of around 4 Million.
It's been years since I heard the statement and you are correct, I did get it wrong. This was what I had read and mis-remembered: “More Mexicans live in Los Angeles than in any city except Mexico City.” - Encarta Encyclopedia
