Maybe that $300 mod is made with tougher metals and it looks nicer, but you can get a mod that WORKS just as well for $40 these days... Just like you can actually get a mod that looks better than all the expensive rare mods for under $50USD! haha. LOOK around and find what you love the most and SAVE UP for it! :)

Just a bit over $50.. but this seems to be a case in point. I may get one to replace my eGo passthroughs as backup.

i kinda have to agree with the convo, that 18650 mod was about $17 not including the $20 battery and $18 charger, it's plain and simple and honestly i kinda like it better than my twists, if only it had 5 click arg!

Aw 18650 2000mah. 8 bucks.

Way cheaper then egos I had many. And if you brow them. They break. Plus batteries work for a year Way better way to go.

What in the world battery did you get for $20?!?

Even a panny CGR18650CH is only $10 at most places!

New York (no, not the city)
I just posted this in another thread; I suppose it belongs here (also).

vaping_11_2012.jpg

On the top, three bottles of juice: RY4, Clove and Menthol. Below those is a USB charger.

Left to right are an unopened Boge cartomizer, one of the rubber sleeves (condoms), an opened but sleeved carto, a carto with a Delryn drip-tip attached, then an eGo battery. On the right is an assembled eGo with a silver carto and a drip-tip, attached to a lanyard (also attached is a small LED flashlight). Below to the left is a pouch that all the un-assembled pieces and supplies can be carried in.

This has been my standard setup for...maybe two years now. I use RY4 and Clove mixed in the black cartomizers and menthol in the silver. I hardly ever use the menthol anymore but go through the other two like crazy. Pretty much the only time I use the menthol is when I go out and forget to wear the lanyard, and have left the pouch with the other battery and menthol carto in the car!

The batteries last me about two days each. When one goes out I charge it overnight (the charger is left in my computer's USB port) and put it back in the pouch. The pouch is a bit smaller but bulkier than a pack of smokes.

I overwrote. If you'd like to read the post that was once here, please view my blog, which you can access to the left of this post. It is my belief that many of the mods on the market today are worthy of great praise. The Provari is a specialty collectors piece. As was the Darwin. The GG's, the Caravelas, the Orions, these are all fixed volt collector's items. Now don't get me wrong, you don't have to be a collector to own one of these great devices. What IS a collector? If the definition of a collector is someone who will continue to collect for as long as they can, or as long as they are alive... Then many of us are collectors and many of us are not. Right? Some of us are happy with a PV or 2 that work. Some of us have an idea of what we'd like to own, before we own them, and in that way, we will continue to buy PVs until we are satisfied. I am in this category. I began vaping with an idea of which Personal Vaporizers that I wanted. So for years now, I've been slowly collecting devices. Its been a long, hard process, because I am not priviliged when it comes to my finances, not in the least. It takes me a very long time to make $50-100usd. But I put my money into PVs because PVs are what make me happy. Smoking was a hobby for us, wasn't it? Yes it was. Some of us maybe didn't think about smoking as much as we actually smoked, but you were still a hobbyist. You owned lighters and you picked which lighters you wanted. You had preferences in tobaccos or cigarette brands. In the same way, we have preferences in PVs and juices, right? So, I guess what I want to say is... its OK to collect and its OK to not collect. Think long and hard about what you'd like right now. What you can afford right now. Get something maybe a little less expensive now, and save up for a few months or a year before you buy that ULTIMATE PV that you saw and said "Oh wow, I have GOT to have that! Thats going to be what I will be vaping from! That is what I want people to see me vaping with!" Save up! If you want to collect, collect... if you see no reason to collect, then just get a few things that make you happy! If you can be happy with 1 PV and a couple eGos, thats great. That is the path that I try to lead people down. You should have a couple eGos and a PV if your a hard core vaporer. You should always have at least 3 battery devices so that you'll never be caught without one, OR with JUST one. Yknow? So, weight out your options and your needs, buy something you like that your going to drool over while you wait for the mailman to deliver it to your house, something reasonable, in your price range... Then, if you want another mod, and you've got the money, save up and get that 2nd mod. Make sure you have some eGo batteries or a 14500 mod that makes you feel comfortable at parties or around others, yknow? And then have a couple mods. You don't have to do it all at once either. Save up and LOOK AROUND. I can't stress that enough. Look around, because I've been at this 4 years and there are STILL mods I'm JUST NOW seeing and finding, haha. There are mods that are $350-400 that are NO better than a mod that is $30 shipped and made in china honestly. :) In that way, we are all collectors/hobbyists. Whether we stay collecting is up to us. But either way, we're all in this together and we're all having a lot of fun. This is a great past-time, a great hobby.
 Plumes, my buddy. Please write in paragraph form. No way can I read that!

Yes, it is! Here is the exact case I got. The lid snaps on pretty tightly, and I can use my finger nail to pop it open. I epoxied (JB weld) the heads of the screw on just in case I want to throw some magnets in there at a later time. I could of went a little smaller, with some better planning, but I like the size of this. Here's a pic of the inside:
