Hey all, so I havent really had to ask for anything on this thread.. and thats and good thing I guess.

I am now asking for someone else. I have a friend that would like to convert but dosent really trust e cigs. If I could I would send him a kit but I cant afford it.

If anyone has a kit laying around that they would like to see go to good use... I have a good use.

I've been catching up on my reading of the last few pages of this thread and like to offer a few thoughts, in no particular order.

First, thanks to everyone who has made constructive comments. No matter what side of the issue you fall on it is great to hear from everyone. It is one reason this group is one of the most vibrant and generous crowds I have seen. Your interest and passion towards PIF as a whole is obvious and I know you share the same goal that we all do: The continued success and long life of the PIF group.

Second, I fully support the efforts of the PIF moderators. While I may be the group "owner", it is the tireless efforts of our volunteer moderation staff that helps keep PIF pointed in the right direction. Any change is, well..........a change and is never undertaken lightly or for the sake of "shaking things up" but it is always done with an eye towards making PIF stronger and providing the most enjoyable, "member friendly" experience possible. Does this mean that everyone will agree with every decision? Not hardly. We understand that, but ask that everyone work with us to make the transition as painless as possible.

Regarding this topic in particular, it was mentioned already that essentially what you are seeing is a change in terminology of what used to be called the "needs" thread. The overall concept is not changing at all. We are using different terms in describing the thread with the intention of more clearly conveying the intention of the thread. We want any member, prior to posting, to really put thought into whether what they are asking for is truly a "want" as opposed to an urgent "need".

Even the most charitable organizations have a "screening" process for those seeking assistance. Why? Certainly part of it is to weed out those looking to take advantage of the generosity provided, but more importantly, most of these organizations have a finite amount of resources available. They need to ensure that their limited resources are devoted to those most in need of assistance.

While we have a tremendously generous group of people in PIF (I routinely see tremendous generosity from those who may not have much themselves) the fact is everyone here has a finite amount of items available to give to others. Our intention is to insure that those most in need benefit from your generosity. Nothing more, nothing less.

While I see a lot of passion here, and it is appreciated, let's all remember that we share a common goal and let's work together to not lose sight of that and keep the mission of PIF alive.

Thanks for reading.

Do you mean helping through pm instead of thread? Or other things?

No, I don't mean helping through P.M.'s. I mean protecting the abusers through P.M.'s so that many are not aware that there is a problem. This is not a group that is going to make groundless accusations, so I personally believe if someone is showing bad behavior, it should be brought out into the open to protect those "not in the know".

I agree! I'm sure a lot of PIF'ers are like me and just pop in here and there. i see a need or a want or a trade and if I can and want to, I go ahead with it. It would be nice to know if I shouldn't help certain people.

I like that Elendil and think it was well put. I also can't stress enough how important I think it was for people to be allowed to voice concerns, different opinions etc. Even if it didn't change anything this time, people were allowed to give their opinions as adults and to me that already shows a difference in the right direction and think we should give a fair chance. Honestly, I know nothing will ever be perfect. It can't be. People will slip through. That will happen no matter how hard you try to stop it. But, I think it will be much better now.

Yup, there has been too much forced secrecy and it harms PIF. I know the mods are going to be great but I personally think a little self policing is needed as well. Just my opinion of course.

I am currently out of work, could use help with a couple of 14500 protected batts and a charger. I have 3 dse901 batts and 3 lightly used 901 attys, a wall charger and a usb charger if anyone needs them. These are automatic. In good condition. I built a AA box mod, 510, just need to get it fired up! Thanks

Hi congaman. :) This might do well in the Swaps thread if you'd like to post it there as well. :)

then why not wait til the issue with the board is resolved to do it then?...

I know it's a bit late in the game, but...

The issue with social group forums being open to the public is most likely something that is going to take quite a while to fix... if it gets fixed at all.

While social groups are part of the vB software, social group forums were the product of an add-on that the add-on developer no longer supports, and is incompatible with the new version of the forum software. So at the moment, we're either waiting on someone to take over that add-on project, someone to come out with a new add-on that is similar, or seeing if our coder can "hack" it to make it work for us. I don't see any of these options happening in a timely manner.

Right now, there is no link between a social group and it's forum. They are all just regular forums, with no way to limit access to just social group members. There is a very real possibility that unless we can figure out a fix sometime in the near future, we may have to rethink how we handle social group forums, and make some changes. I'm sure that will make for some unhappy people, but we're limited to what the software can do.

well i'll consider that when i've got at least $30 so it's 30 for a $20 purchase instead of $20 for a $10 purchase - the fees kind of kill it. it's 1 thing when someone can put upwards of $100 on it at any given time but i only get basically nickles and dimes so by the time the fees are paid, it's really not worth it. much more financially sound to buy stamps when i can and work out deals or trades of some sort. maybe in january after certain things happen providing i can get my ... in gear perhaps that option would be more feasable. i do thank you for helping by offering advice though :)

I am sorry Demon. I thought it was a one time charge and you just reload the card. You may want to check that out.

Ok Jons, I am going to kind of pick on you here since you just posted. Is that a want or an emergency? We all have friends who smoke and we want to convert but many of them don't 'trust' that they will work for them. What I do is let them try one of mine. I don't even bother giving them a charger. They can tell after a couple of hours if they are interested. If they are, I tell them to save their money and I will find them a GREAT deal. :) If they cut their smoking down even a little they can save money.

Hey, pm2006, its ok if you want to pick on me... I can take, lol. This is not an emergency. I repeat this is a test just a test. The only reason I ask is because my friend who I grew up with and talk to everyday now lives several states away. I got married and moved....Otherwise I would just let him try mine.n I would like to be able to give him a starter kit to some degree, even a disposable e cig. He really questions the e cig and no matter how much I talk to him it just comes down to... he has to try it. This guy has been smoking for over 15 years and would like to stop not to mention he cant really afford it. So if anyone can help.. He could us it.

The offer that was given a earlier discovered that the battery was dead.... I still need a kit

jons, i believe what pm is trying to point out is this needs to be in the want thread or you could open a new thread in the general area explaining the situation.

I agree. Getting some stuff for a friend to get started is definitely more of a "want" versus a "need". It is great to help a friend get started. I would encourage you to have them join up here and see first hand what vaping is all about.
