Hi all! Great thread! I've spent a day and a bit just going over it with a fine toothed comb.
I'm in the planning stages of my first DIY pipe. I have a limb from a cherry tree that I had to cut off the tree in my front yard. I'll split (rive?) out a block for the pipe body. The branch is about eight inches in diameter and about four feet long. lots of pipes in there!

I've got an electrical question for y'all.
I have a DSE618 pipe with an auto switch, and a smok pipe with the manual switch. I much prefer the auto switch of the 618. I got to wondering if I could use parts from a 510 auto battery in a DIY pipe. Do you guys think that could work?

Regards;

It's been done before, but those auto sensors in the 510 auto batteries are a crap shoot. You might get lucky and get a good one, or not.

My GF bought me an e-pipe for Christmas. Not sure what this brand is, the box just says "PIPE".

It uses a carto and a single 18350 flat top. Fires on inhale, which I'm not wild about, but hey it seems to work nicely.

My GF also enjoyed it :) Almost had to snatch it away from her, and she's not even much of a vape fan!

And of course, had to ham it up a bit after I'd been at it for a while.

Be careful with that carto - if it starts gurgling switch it out for a vivi or protank. I had a similar pipe and the carto leaked straight through the auto switch into the shank. Oh, and welcome. Let the pipe obsession begin.

Cheers, and thanks! Yeah, I had it running for all of a few hours and got the gurgle. I'll try it out with my ProTank, appreciate the tip!

Well, long story short. Waited 2 months for this:

MF1.jpg

A bit disappointing for such a long wait and a design determined by the builder. It included the bowl, switch and a straight square stem that didn't fit anything I have. The switch is really tricky and I wish they hadn't ruined the grain with all the rings. I was hoping they had resolved the switch issue since the Grim Green video. It is now looking for a new home. I guess if it doesn't sell I'll redo the switch and figure out a better looking setup. When it works it does pretty well.

So I decided to pick this up:

Such a nice design, although a bit large for a 18350. Pretty much every atty or mini tank I've tried on it looks good (the dragon tamer is shown just because it's brass). Build quality is spot on - really solid even though it looks a bit delicate. The side switch is a nice change from the top button.

If the stem is the same as the one I had, you can probably find a ink pen to cut up and use as an adapter between the stem and tank. The stem actually looks pretty good on a vivi.

I have the same DSE618 pipe.
My solution to the pipe stem issue was to find a Delrin 510 drip tip that fit into the silicone seal in the stem nicely. I cut the Delrin tip to the right length and now I'm using an Aspire Dual Bottom Coil Vivi Nova. Works good but it's a little wobbly. I also filed down an old analog pipe stem to be a friction fit into the atty. That one is nice and stable.
