Just hand wrapped my first fused clapton over the weekend, have some future plans for some coils.... Pretty sure some have been done before, pretty sure some will flop....

Three core fused Clapton, allowing the cores to triangle rather than keeping them flat....
A hybrid fused Clapton, instead of the wrap going around the cores, go around one, between the cores around the other core and back between and around....
A modified twisted, start twisting and after a determined pitch, thread a wire through perpendicular to the twisted wires through each "untwisted" section.... (Envisioning a few variations on this one, twisting after threading, leaving "loops" with the threaded wire, different threading techniques)....

Has anyone tried any of these?

So the threaded twisted ideas are pretty much a flop for my patience and skill level.... I guess I could always try to bend the threading wire, lay it between two strands and twist each intersection by hand, or get into the wife's swewing stuff and find a needle and spend more time trying that out....

Edit: I did find a faster method by hand for fused Claptons than using the old protank head.... Wrapped almost 3 inches in about 15 minutes....
