Interesting topic. I've never had a plastic taste in any of my juices, and I've vaped juices nine or ten months old that have been stored in plastic bottles. I'm not sure why, but I've never thrown out any of my empty juice bottles, I just throw them in a bag and toss them back in the cupboard. What this thread prompted me to do was grab this bag out and check my empty bottles. They all look fine and I can't notice any damage at all, so i'll continue to order in plastic. One thing I did notice is that the bottles from one supplier are marked with a 1, which is on the should not use list. This surprised me, because this supplier sells 2 of the most popular juices going around.

Maybe if you switch to Glass for a while you will see the difference, there are a few different types of plastic bottles being used, some get more effected then others and some flavorings effect the juice and bottles more then others, Try the Glass and see what happens that's all cant hurt right, you just dont know if you havent tried glass and are use to plastic., so just try some glass and see.

I wasn't trying to debate you, but I would have to argue that sunlight may speed up the process, but it is also adding UV, a new variable, and that is poor science.

I don't disagree that you or others can't taste a difference, or claiming your original premise is bad. Just that bad science doesnt provide accurate results, so I would not do the test the same way you chose.

That's cool I can respect that but like I said put 6ml's of a few different kinds of juice in Glass bottles, same 6ml's of juice in plastic, tuck it away and forget about it for a while. then break it out 6-8 weeks from now. The other important thing is this, so what if you dont notice a huge difference right off the bat and it is a small difference, but yet over time that mall difference smacks you in the face 3-4yrs from now ? see what I'm saying here, that small difference every day can add up over time. Personally for me I notice a difference using the glass in many juices I use, the juice taste the same in the glass its crisper and the flavor is good, while in plastic I taste what it does to the juices and theres a difference to me, to each there own though if you and others like plastic and it works for you thats all that matters, but for me its gonna be glass Always from now on that's my choice, it's all good.

Here's my take.

I've already screwed up my lungs badly enough after many years of smoking, and try to do whatever is reasonably easy to do to minimize further harm to them. Note I said minimize, not eliminate.

I'm also a chemist, although not of the polymer variety. I do know, however, that glass is resistant to just about all chemicals. Plastics are more complicated. Different types interact differently with different chemicals at different rates, and I'm just not gonna study all that. It's much easier to just use glass.

Hmm, so we could be vaping Pthalates? That's really disgusting, and even if no pthalates are leeching into the liquids, what about BPA and other assorted nasties? I feel like ordering a case of glass vials or bottles to transfer my liquids into, now.

Do it I've stored my mixed juices in 125ml Amber Glass Reagent Bottles (they use glass stoppers instead of plastic caps), I'm also waiting on some 1 litre ones for my VG and Nic.

Echo to do it. It's so easy, and relatively cheap. A small price to pay for a lot more peace of mind.

Even if they weren't cheap it's a one off cost, it's not like they wear out and unlike plastic you can wash them 100% clean with no smell left in them

I missed Kurt's response and will have to go back and look it up. Has anyone offered an opinion on what particular ingredient in our juice (other than cinnamon) is responsible. Is it PG, VG, flavors, PGA, TPA? Most everything I vape is a tobacco flavor. I haven't seen any of the curdling look in my plastic bottle. When I get new juice the bottle looks the same as the bottles I have had forever.

I'm just wondering.

I agree with him on nalgene. I would use these bottles short term.

But I can't afford them. I DYI and use a lot of bottles, so I get cheap glass vials from Amazon.com.

That' another thing here, I DIY most of my juice so I know whats going into it for the most part, but you don't know every little thing Vendors are using in there juices, and without them having to label ALL of there ingredients some of these ingredients could also have different effects on plastic bottles, especially the oils some of them use like Cinnamon oil, Also there is just no doubt about my juices changing in taste for the worst when in plastic vs Glass, with that said I'm just never gonna risk using plastic to store juice in, I dont even like using it short term for that matter.

Ya try to find 6ml round Nalgene bottles for bottom feeders, I cant find them anywhere, if anyone sees these somewhere please post the link. Using these in my Reo's would be better then nothing I could at least fill once a day so it was only in there for 8hrs and see how that worked out.

Yeah, if you could find them, nalgene bottles would be great for bottom feeders.

Searched everywhere couldnt find the standard 6ml bottles like the ones we use, I did find 4ml & 8ml and wrote to both companies asking for samples and offered to pay for them of course just so I could see if they would work, would be nice if the 8ml fit. . It's worth a shot thats for sure, cant believe they dont have standard round 6ml'ers though

I have also noticed juice in a 30ml bottle that has become very thick and dark, and the sides of the plastic bottle are stained. I'm not sure the reason for this, but it had me concerned as well so I cleaned out my tank and threw out the supply.

Last think I want is to be vaping plastic!

Generally, I try to practice harm reduction. My system ain’t perfect, but it works for me. It’s fairly easy and cheap to do. I have to add that I smoked a lot for over 40 years, and have COPD, so really have to be careful.

1) I use glass whenever possible. I sometimes use the more inert plastics, but only for short term storage.

2) I make my own juice, using flavorings and solvents from well-known sources. This way, I have the maximum control over what goes in, and the mixing conditions. Note I said maximum, not total, control. There are certainly questions around the flavorings and solvents we use, which after all, were never intended for pulling into the lungs. But, knowing this, I do decide to vape, albeit as cautiously as I can.

3) Personally, I don’t do high voltage vaping. Actually, I can’t – it hurts my lungs. But even if I could, I wouldn’t. I worry about possible juice degradation – the more energy you supply, the faster things happen.

BTW – I haven’t yet found a juice delivery system I am completely happy with. Needs to be free of filling (often nails my lungs), be made of glass, metal or nalgene, work right out of the box, and taste great. I don’t ask for much!

Yeah i have noticed the cheaper bottles being used.
I get emergency juice from a local vape store..he gets his juice from an online vendor.
I can always tell how long he's had em by how squishy the bottles feel.

Well after reading a good part of this thread I have to agree with MWA. I have been transfering most of my juice into glass soon after I started vaping.
Ever since the baby bottle revelation I have tried to eliminate plastics from my eating, drinking and from every where else that I can. But since I am constantly searching for a different and better juice it has been difficult. It would be great if glass became the standard for e-juice-no doubt about it.
Unfortunately we live in the petroleum era and plastics are a big part of it. There were alternatives to petroleum based plastics at one time though big oil won out. That plastic leaches is a proven fact.
Who prefers plastics anyway. Why do some of us get upset or defensive with MWA's desire to switch to glass for e-juice. Seems needlessly combative to me. Keep on vaping with glass storage bottles.
