well 60 mg dose is enough to kill.. 60mg juice is a concentration of 60mg to ml of fluid so a few drops is not going to kill you.. even a full ml spill will be highly unlikely because it would not absorb into the skin fast enough to cause effect..

now drinking it is a different story.. more would be absorbed and at a faster rate..

but yeah they should be kept out of reach and spills washed off. as far as the buyers of the product

as far as suppliers go.. they should protect themselves.. all it takes is one stupid customer to make a mistake and sue for lack of warnings to take your home..

warning stickers.. even mcdonalds coffee cups say they are hot now.. common sence is not good enough..

childproof bottles, or if its cheaper childproof pill bottles that the bottles are stored in..

personaly if i was selling the products i would find all possible warnings about the ingredients and use of the product and ship the paper with it..

Omg I hadn't even considered some poor supplier getting sued over someone being careless and then blaming them. That's scary too. So many of the favorite suppliers are familys.

gee, and if we can get smokers to start locking up their cigs and lighters, the world could rejoice in its' safeness...

Seriously, folks... I understand the need for safety with e-juice, but how many kids have burned down houses with matches and lighters their smoking parents left lying around... It sickens me how vapers have to jump thru hoops but smokers get a safety pass in the eyes of the public...

Whew! Glad i got that off my chest...

Carry on...

this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From cursory research, the quoted figure is someone's estimation of the approximate lethal dose for a human adult. Actually the numbers that I found from cdc.gov were .5-1mg/kg. And it's not lethal on contact ... it is readily absorbed through the skin, but all of that 40-60mg of nicotine would need to be _absorbed_ to be fatal ... just getting it on your skin does not necessarily mean that it is absorbed ... unless of course you just watch it ooze on your arm rather than cleaning it off!

lol That's a big DUH. I actually worked in an e-cig retail store for a year. After 6 hours a day with the stuff on my hands almost constantly, I've yet to have a reaction of any kind. At home I DIY with 100mg nicotine and I've spilled that on myself once or twice. I do wash it off quickly, but even with that, the most I've experienced was a quick buzz like I'd have gotten off my first drag off an analog in the morning.

I'm all about being careful with the nicotine and I have 2 dogs in the house so I keep my stuff out of their reach. However, (and I'm sure I'll get smacked for this one) but I have no small children. My daughter is 15 and stays away from my e-cig stuff. I have no friends right now with small children so that's a non issue for me as well.

HOWEVER...

In regards to policing my household for other people's children, all I can do is refer to a quote I once saw on another website and unfortunately can't remember who said it but it went something like this.

A friend of the poster had a child who was now a toddler. The person brought her child over on a visit and the kid was getting into everything.

The Parent: "Well, I guess it's time for you to child-proof your house"
Poster: "No, it's time for you to house-proof your child!"

When my children were young, they were taught to keep their hands to themselves. I was taught that way as well. In fact, throughout my entire childhood, my mother had a porcelain ballerina statue on the coffee table in the living room. She still has that ballerina and to this day, it has never been broken.

I'll take the necessary precautions to protect my safety and those who live in my home, but I draw the line on rearranging my life because someone else can't parent their kids.

Ok..flame away lol

I agree that caution should be exercised..and as noted, that would be the case with anything. I try to be cautious without going overboard. I was thinking of getting some 100mg nic for diy but I'm hesitant to do so because of the dangers involved with handling this stuff. Right now I mix with tasty vapor's 48mg flavored nic juice. I want to use 100mg so not to dilute my juices. Thanks for the warnings.. I need to take another look at how I store my own stuff!
