I really do disagree about the baby steps, but that's of course why the forums are so awesome - she asks a question, gets a lot of different answers and opinions and can think for herself. But, I utterly fail to see how skipping the in-beweens would cause problems per se, given the REO is so easy to use and work with and has a ceramic base which eliminates one way of shorting out your coil.

That said, if an in-between is cheap so she can see what dripping is like, go for it, but I didn't ever drip before and will never touch a standard dripper. no reason to now that I've got a REO.

not at all arguing or even debating your advice or anybody else's - just tossing in another 2 cents about the skipping to a REO causing hassle. I don't think that's true.

edit - if she gets that igo thing you mention, she can go a little lower than 1.5 ohm as an MVP2 will work at 1 ohm and above. just fyi OP if you go that route but want a lower resistance (I find that 1.2-1.6 ohms are my favorite so far)

Yup, if OP feels comfortable skipping "steps" I'd say go for it. I skipped the "expensive gurglie/dry hit from satan's home" tank stage.

Honestly I know you have probably had enough but..... a REO would be amazing for you.

First of all- iClear 30's- I can't stand them. For me it just was a harsh hit and it tasted like the wick every time (how could it not with those monster sized wicks!!) It gave a funny taste to all of my juices. I got mine with my MVP 2 also and I gave it away after about 2 days. (the tank- not the MVP :) )

The REO- I was TERRIFIED of building coils!!! I am NOT mechanically inclined in any way!! I am super accident prone. I thought I'd blow my face off if I tried.
OMG I was so wrong!!! The very first coil I tried worked awesome! I used the artistic coil winder and it was a piece of cake!! I used my MVP to make sure it measured correctly (I keep mine about 1.2) and I stuck some cotton wick through and that was it!! Perfection.
I can honestly say that if I can handle a REO anyone can do it.

I have spent so much money over the last year on trying out all kinds of equipment. In February I bought a ProVari. I was interested in a REO then but the fact that I had to make coils just ruined it for me. Now I wish I had just skipped everything else and gone straight for the REO. The REO is actually the easiest device I have used. I have not had any hassles with it. Coils are SUPER CHEAP. No more buying expensive cartomizers or head coils. A $6 spool of wire will probably last me years. (I have only replaced my coil ONCE in over 2 months and that was because I dropped my REO really hard and the coil came loose)

I know I have gone on and on but I just want to try and give others information so they don't make the same mistakes I did and waste a ton of money.

One more thing- no matter what you decide, you should most definitely take the coil building class. No matter what device you use it is ALWAYS much much better when you rebuild your own coils!!!

I hope you find whatever works the best for you!!
Good luck!!!!

Welcome!

You've been given a lot of good suggestions from the 'Family. Go with what feels comfortable for you.
The only thing that I would add is that "Bill Me Later" can be your friend. If you qualify, it's six months interest free for purchases over $100.00. . . . . . . ..

uh....what?

...second REO...?

WHAT?

*pondering*

Hi ncolwell and Welcome :)

I'm going to go in a different direction here. I'm not opposed to a REO - but there are less expensive intermediate steps if you aren't ready.

I would simply suggest an Aspire BCD or Nautilus, or Nautilus Mini. Replaceable bottom coils and (to me) a very good topper.

I have an MVP2 and the Nautilus tank is still a great vape. I did start building coils by rebuilding the coils in the Nautilus before I got into the kayfun.

Carto tanks are another inexpensive option. YouTube has plenty of reviews etc. and can be a good resource for information.

I'm all for making Vaping a hobby (the hobby aspect is what has kept me going) but I also like the simplicity of a "fill and vape" option.

Whatever you decide - good luck!

It really is a journey... and there is nothing wrong with taking steps...

Remie's right there's nothing wrong with taking steps :)

they're not necessary though, and may cause frustration. for some they don't and for some (me) they do.

at this point OP you've gotten tons of great advice from tons of knowledgeable and contented vapers. take the class, think about your options, and let us know what you wind up doing! we'll all be more than happy to assist you with anything :)

There's one that's a mini in the classifieds right now that comes with batteries and the rm2. I did go ahead and ask if it has the gold contacts which you do want if you were to buy. It's a question that needs to be asked regardless but it's a pretty good deal for the whole package if you were interested.

As one who began this hobby with a simple little ego c and disposable Ce clearomizers and than morphed into a full blown enthusiast with more high end equipment than one would possibly need and looking back now, while having pretty much experienced it all, I can honestly say that for me, the juice was worth the squeeze.

That does not mean that my approach is what's best for everybody. The beauty of this little niche that we all are in is that you have complete freedom of choice and plenty of options to figure out what's right for you.

Its all about the ride! :toast:

i agree that the iclear 30 is crud... sorry. i have tried all the innokin clearos...
and well you would be better off with a carto tank imo.

i am using the sophia and for the most part I am in love.
i have a couple flavors that just arent hitting it right for me, but they are also tobacco flavors and i have never vaped tobacco flavors before.

my kayfuns are tricky so i don't use them much.

feeling the same way as you is what led me to buy the sophia. wish i could afford more.
but i did just but a magma clone. it has most of the features i need that the kayfun did not have.

i will be updating later on how it works.
i can say, my best flavor has been with my kayfuns.. amazing flavor.
the sophia has been a great runner up
and the diver right behind it.

i also think that adding CLS to any flavor can make it pop.
