Thank You. I will check these out right now, great prices. Much appreciated.

And I was just about to buy from Johnson's Creek, think I will check these out 1st.

You should check out JC. Several of the Blu flavors are made by JC. Vanilla for sure (Vanda on JC) and I think a couple of others. Very yummy!

Two words for you: Sampler packs. Some good ones:

1. e-liquid - Sample e-liquid - MyFreedomSmokes.com
2. E-Liquid 3ml Sample 4 Pack - $10.00 : Heathers Heavenly Vapes, Top Quality Custom E-Liquids
3. Sample smoke juice bottles Johnson Creek Smoke Juice

Good luck and best to you!

Yeah, Blu's vanilla has to be a variation on Vanda. And their cherry is a slight variation on Rainer.

Do wish I knew what "java jolt" is supposed to be. If you could get the cartos to work at all, it was pretty good. If you could get anything at all that is...

Sorry, another double message for you. Advice taken on going to fast.

When you were using the blu's, how many drops, how long did you let sit, and what was the average lifespan of the carto? I am sure your regiment improved a long the way. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Some mistakes I have made......putting the refill down the center hole, using too much, and using a battery that was too powerful for the carto's. They seem to fit on the standard chines battery(501?). Just using the blu battery now.

Thanks for all the help.

Actually, I just fiddled around until it seemed right. I didn't keep track I'm afraid. Also, I'm hitting the limits of what I could tell you about Blu. I dumped them fairly fast. And my "carto" period didn't last terribly long either. But I was a heavy smoker and vape quite a bit. I needed more so I moved to clearos and Twist batteries.

If you want to stay in the "cigarette like" world (as I recall, you weren't a heavy smoker so may not need anything bigger), my best suggestion is move to Boge 510 cartos. Mount Baker (MBV) has some here: Boge 510 SR. 510 since that's the standard threading which even Blu uses and SR which is "standard resistance". LR isn't something you want to jump into without learning more about it.

(Oh and it's 510. Lot of people reverse it to 501. I think because of the jeans? )

Boge are bigger than the freakishly little ones Blu uses and hold more. They're also way easier to fill. They may look a little funny on a Blu battery but they'll work. The fill for them is all over YouTube. Like PBusardo (who's a big name in the vape world) has video here: A PBusardo Tutorial : Filling Boge 510 Cartomizers - YouTube

The best method I found is called, of all things, the "condom fill" or "push method".

Now, Busardo uses a "drip tip" on his cartos which I ended up doing too. Works nice. Better than the little rubber caps. But you can also just put them back on if you like.

Dunno they'll fit in the little Blu "case" thing. They're bigger than Blu's cartos. Blu deviated from standards in several cases. One, because they wanted a certain "look" and two, to make you buy from them. Boge 510 cartos are everywhere though. Place I used to buy mine is here: 510 SR Blank Cartos : ValueVapor.com, Discount Electronic Cigarettes and e-Liquid. They even have bunches of different colors.

You mention another battery? The Boge may work fine with it. Myself, I would consider moving away from Blu. They've set things up to try to "lock in" customers. They don't want you wandering off and buying from other places. In the end, you spend a lotta cash. I discovered I was spending as much as when I smoked and that's when the Blu went out the door (I gave it away to another smoker).

You know, we might want to take this back out in "New Members". Lots of other folks out there with good ideas. I switched off cartomizers to clearomizers fairly early on because I needed greater capacity (same for switching to bigger batteries). I rarely use cartos now. I'm very sure there are folks out on the forum who use them more than I did and know way more than me.

I can't tell you really how long they can last since I didn't use them long enough to find out what the average life was. I scorched a few along the way and tossed them. But the bulk of mine are sealed up and stored in the cabinet I use to keep stuff long term in case I might need it again.

Heh, I even have a jar full of Blu cartos since I just can't seem to bring myself to throw out something that's not "broken". They must last a while since I didn't toss out tons of them. But I can't really say how long they lasted on average.

I am going to take your advice and get the 510 battery which seems to the sweet spot, I like the blu but it only lasts about 20 minutes, not long enough when I am working. I went out and bought a plastic hypo tip and fitting so I can clean out the carto's. Hopefully it will fit the 510 carto's. I cleaned about 20, so I should be good for awhile. I think they key to keeping the Blu Carto's good is not getting them too hot, flooding, or using a stronger battery which will fry them, otherwise they have not deteriorated.

I have settled on the drip method around the mouth fiber, then spinning and letting sit for a few hours. The Blu's carto's flood easily I so I am using 3 drops of the JC Tennessee Cured, and 2 drops of the MBV 555.
The E-Juice problem is settled, 2/1 JC Tennessee Cure with MBV 555, good taste and lots of vapor. This was a big deal finding something I liked. I agree with you on the JC vs Blu E-Juice, but it is good.

You gave me a load of good info via private message and I am going to post that in the next day for anyone else that reads this thread.

Bottom line, I have my juice preference and a stockpile, plenty of carto's, know how to fill, maintain and clean, 2 great websites that I have ordered from Mount Baker Vapor and Johnson's Creek and am vaping away. Far from where I was last week. Since I am taking this step by step, a 510 battery is the next purchase.

Thanks.

Some good info I received from mkbilbo for down the road.

Shoot, wanna see cheap? Over in the DIY section, I got a recommend for Wizard Labs. They have half liter bottles of plain nic for around $20. I use a 50/50 PG/VG most times and have lowered my nic some (mostly just because I really like vaping and too high a nic, I end up wide awake all night ).

So I got a half liter of PG based 18mg nic and a half liter of 0 nic VG on their way. $30 and that'll make 1000ml of 9mg 50/50.

Figured it up and with adding flavors (I usually run around 20% with those), I should be able to get down to around 8 cents per ml. Much as I like JC's smoke juices, they want $19.45 for a 30ml. I'll be able to mix 30ml myself for $2.40.

In fact, I got a half liter of plain nic juice on hand so I think I'm done buying nic juice for the rest of the year. Just some flavors here and there.

You get a little more into this "vaping" thing? You can find ways to save just truckloads of money. When I think of how much I blew on cigarettes over the years, I wanna cry.

Stick with USA made juice! Stuff from other counties doesn't always use food grade PG, and can be harmful. Check out mtbakervapor and Diamond Vapor. I like their unique favors, but they also have some tobacco flavors. I love them. It's not quite as cheap as mtbakervapor, but they run $5 for 10ml. It's always made fresh to order and ships very quickly!

i have tried the fasttech (from china)juice. it was fine, and if money is an issue, this is probably your best bet. free shipping, get order i 10 days to 2 weeks. i also ordered backup kit from them with no problem.

Agreed. I started regularly ordering various flavours in 10ml size from that vendor. There's just such a large and inexpensive selection @ Fast Tech it seems worthwhile to experiment flavour-wise. For me I find changing atomisers can have a massive influence on the taste of a liquid anyway, so Im happy to experiment and save money.
edit: for the price, its pretty easy to dispose of anything that isnt likeable, and try something different.

Just throwing in a different perspective from a couple posts in this thread -

Disclaimer: I think taste in juice is TOTALLY individual - I've hated really popular stuff, and like things that I didn't really expect to. You just have to order small sizes, count on steeping usually, and see for yourself.

Given that -

a) I didn't like much from MountBakerVapor. I like them as a VENDOR, but most of their juice, to me, was perfumey and chemical - which faded with steeping but not enough. Lots of people DO like their stuff though - so it's worth trying.

b) I was totally surprised that I DO like some DeKang I got from FastTech. I've reordered and made their "Turkish Tobacco" an "always in stock" juice - and it was NOT because of price, it's because I just like it! Price is a bonus.

Finally - there IS an "e-solid". It's like toothpaste. And there's a weird atomizer for it that looks like a little light bulb - you smear the paste on the coil and vape away. Kooky.

Well 510 is the threading. Blu uses 510 threads. An eGo battery has 510 threads and eGo threads. It's not a type of battery but the screw threads. There are a couple of other standards out there (like the 808 comes to mind) which won't fit 510 threaded parts.

I know for certain the Blu kit and their cartos that you can buy all over the place these days use 510 threads. I used up the last remaining Blu cartos I had on my eGo Twist. They fit. Blu's newer kits? I have no idea.

But it's not so much a "510 battery" as a "battery with 510 threading". Which you can find all over. The big incompatibility thing is that the Blu kit that's being sold all over the place (like Walgreens) is reverse polarity from everybody else. So you can't use their charger on other batteries and you cannot charge their batteries with other chargers. You'll damage battery, charger, and may start a fire.

So when you go looking for new batteries, you have to make sure to get the charger that goes with those batteries.

What you're looking for in terms of lasting longer is "mAh". The measure of the battery's capacity. Higher is more (of course). The common, standard Blu is about 90mAh as I recall. Not much. My Twists are 1000mAh. Much bigger. But there are various sizes out there. Including "cigarette like" types (the infamous "cig-a-like" that don't get much love here :) ). Cignot is where I've bought most of my batteries. They have some 280 and 340mAh batteries with 510 threading. Those would last a lot longer than the Blu. But you do have to get the Joye charger for them. I can't emphasize that enough. Blu is backward polarity from everybody else. You can use Blu cartos on other 510 threaded batteries but you cannot swap batteries and chargers. Not without nasty results.

I have settled on the drip method around the mouth fiber, then spinning and letting sit for a few hours. The Blu's carto's flood easily I so I am using 3 drops of the JC Tennessee Cured, and 2 drops of the MBV 555.

Sounds like you're on your way then. :)

Tennessee Cured is pretty good I think. Though I like to mix it with Domestic since TC is a little too sweet for my taste. Together, they're not bad. Not bad at all...

Oh, by the way, any mods that happen along, yes, I gave permission to post from our private message exchange. In fact, it was my idea so the OP could get more opinions than just mine.

(I do love giving my opinion on just about anything but I know I ain't the most experienced vaper around the ECF. Not by a long shot. May be one of the most verbose but not the most experienced. :D )

Thanks for the clarification definition of 510 (threading) and I have absorbed the reverse polarity of the blu batteries vs the others. Do not mix. I am set for the time being with a 2/1 mix of JC's TC and MBV 555, gives rich flavor and the MBV 555 seems to add some vapor and a little twist.

Bought a $2.50 syringe and rubber cap to clean cartonizer's. Seems to do a great job. I have around 20 blu carto's that should last for a while. Will get new Cartomizer's when I purchase the new stronger battery.

All information has helped a lot. I just need to step up and purchase more durable battery and carto's. I have your recommendation saved.

Why not China juice?

Pondering from a newb here, good question.

I think it's a good rule to purchase consumable products from companies that you can hold accountable no matter where they get their supplies. So I would rather buy Chinese Juice from an established American company over USA stuff from a fly by night foreign web company.

Here is a list of recent food contamination incidents, and it happens in the USA and UK just like China. Since this stuff is going into your lungs, I would think that a good company would buy good products no matter where they are made. So one of my goals is identifying reputable companies, I believe I have found 2 in the short time I have looked.
