should be able to answer all of your questions- the poster wanted the same thing that you do, and it has really wonderful info. Most of the kr808s have either compatible cartridges or cartomizers.

Here are some reputable models/keywords that will be helpful to you for the type you want:
-Volt - Smokeless Image | Only The Best Electronic Cigarette | Starter Kits
-Halo G6 - G6 Basic Starter Kit - G6 E-Cig
-Smoov - Starter Kits
-Bloog - http://bloogplanet.com/starter-kits.html
-Vapor Titan/Diamond/Stealth - Vapor4Life

I hope this helps!

**Edit** Oops. I almost forgot. To answer your question, yes, most cartridges/cartomizers can be topped off/refilled!

I love the kr808, have 2 autos and 2 manuals and a Pcc to keep them all.crankin,lol. I keep them around just for special situations, and im partial to them because they broke me from my analogs(im a softy)
Mine are kr808d-1 XL versions, i think they vape wonderful, my only complaint as a stand alone is definatly battery life, but if your well prepared and dont mind all the charging, they do a good job of keeping the analogs away. I still.use mine all the time and also have a VV thats my main horse.
Not sure i would go.down the V2 road though, im sure any of the forum suppliers could treat your wallet much better. The main thing,is just to jump on the horse and start riding, lol, every day your vaping is one less day with the stinky sticks, and just keep reading more and more info as you go.ECF is a wonderful resource.
Congrats and welcome to the vaping world.

After loooking at a few different options I still dont understand why volt is better than v2 I understand the price is cheaper but the v2 comes with 5 more cartridges and a lifetime warranty for $30 dollars more. I am assuming like all other rechargable batteries they will eventually die and need to be replaced. The v2 cartos are $3 more per 5 but I plan on refilling myself. Not trying to be confrontational just trying to understand I will gladly buy the volt if it performs better but i think if I stay vaping it may be more beneficial and cost effective to go v2. I u also see that the extra $ is almost the price of 1 volt kit but after 1 replacement I would have to come out of pocket. Am I wrong here?

Well, the problem is even though you have a supposed life time replacement, you will still be paying shipping and handeling and runnin to the post office. And also, the life time of a kr808 usually isnt much longer then 3-4 months for me. I only pay 12.95 for them, so if you are paying 29.00, if you start figuring 3.00 extra here 10.00 extra there, it all adds up.
With that being said, if you have your heart set on V2, GO for it, i think there products are good, just dont like the prices, lol

I think you are wise for comparison shopping & taking into account your refill options/cost.

I am copying and pasting from an earlier thread on the same subject: (Re:V2/Volt)

Honestly, they're all very very similar. There's no night and day difference here, you'll find some better or worse based on your own preferences.
I have V2s, V4Ls (manual, auto, and a stealth--which is the same as the "diamond series" without the bling), and a Volt auto. They're all super similar small differences (the biggest one being that the Volt is regulated). So no I wouldn't expect a dramatic difference---but some will line up better with your preferences.

Personally, finding the perfect carto resistance for my batteries has made the biggest difference for me... and sometimes I think that's a large part of what people are noting as a difference. V2 and V4L cool carts are both too high for me on anything but a passthrough (low vapor production, tight draw, and with refills vapor production gets dramatically worse). V4L wowcarts have great vapor production but burn or just die too quickly, especially on my stealth or passthrough. Volt/Smokeless image cartos are a my perfect goldilocks solution But they're just as good on all my batteries, not just the Volt.

That's, of course, excluding all the customer service and price stuff. I like both v4l and si in different ways.

Am I wrong here?

Not really ;)

V2 is a good product but very much overpriced and the shipping is expensive, not to mention it takes a while from your order to actually shipped (major complain for most of people I know who started with V2). V2's Lifetime Warranty is limited, you have to buy from them every 90 days (of course, it manageable if you stick with them - but still kinda shady warranty for me).

Most of KR8 (that's the term for this type of battery) users here recommended Volt because it has great service & customer support, quality product with good price and reasonable shipping option. And they have a subforum here at ECF.

But again, if you still insist on V2, go ahead, anything to get you away from analogs will do you just fine. Good luck!

My first ecig was from V2 because of their warrenty. I wanted something two piece and near the size of a reg. cig.
So I purchased a starter kit with two auto batterys. Two weeks later I ordered two manual batterys (wanted more vapor)and another charger. This was a year and a half ago. At that time they were always out os stock. Don't know if this has changed. Once I found out their batterys were kr808d-1. I did a search and purchased batterys from vapor4life and myvaporstore. All worked well. So get your started kit from V2 since you like them But know for the future that you will have other options when you need replacements.

Slyvest,
I did some research, went with V2, and have been very happy. 3Wks today analog free! If V2 looks good to you, go for it. I haveh't had a problem. Well, that's not entirely true..My manual battery (which I hardly ever used) had been hit or miss for the last couple of days so I called V2 today and after a VERY short wait, talked to Carmen. I told her about the problem, told her about my success and my satisfaction with the product, and two minutes later I was off the phone with a second AUTOMATIC battery (to replace the manual) coming in the mail. Cool!
All that said-try V2. Get the starter pack, pick a flavor and maybe the starter pack as there are some good flavors in there, order 5 or 10 blanks, and then order some juices from the highest rated vendors on this forum. It's soo much less expensive. Drink TONS of water and be proud of yourself as you experiment with flavors/juices and find what works for you. Go for it. You have nothing to lose! Good luck, and, we're here to help!

I just ordered my first e-cig. I got a joytech 510! Im waiting for it to arrive. Ive read alot of post say 510 is the way to go for new comers due alot of plus and minus but the plus I liked was I could have it white with the red light and it looked like a smoke. And I just used google shop to find the price I liked. On a side note since you're new to this to let me know if you stumble across a flavor you like...Im afraid of all these flavors. But good luck!

I'm not going to try to talk you out of what you want to start with preference wise; as no matter what you choose in the end, just starting and making the switch from smoking will be a great thing. :)

However, in the interest in helping you get off to a great start, please consider the following.

I went with green smoke at first, especially since I really thought that having a cig lookalike was going to be pertinent to kicking the analog (smokes) habit. Tell you what, I was wrong. v2 and green smoke are probably relatively the same with their own pros and cons for that category of personal vaporizers (pv). There's not a whole lot of choice if you want it to look and feel like a cigarette and they will all cost you a lot more in the long run. Most here who start with this type of pv seem to quickly outgrow it, mostly for performance or longevity reasons. Sometimes even lack of choice for growth or long term cost.

I suggest spending some time reading the guides that are on this forum regarding choices that are not necessarily cig lookalikes, so you can see what's really out there. As for red label, again, we all want that as close to a smoke taste when we consider switching, but that too quickly fades and you may soon find that you are tired or even sick of the tobacco flavor.

Again, not trying to say you can't go with v2 or something similar to start with, as I think that being here and making the choice to switch is just awesome! However, taking into consideration the experiences of many here on the forum, you may be able to save yourself some time and money and have a much more pleasant experience entering the pv world.

Some types you could consider looking into as an alternative would be a 510 kit, or and eGo or kGo type unit.

I put this together to send to friends that were considering switching using knowledge I gained from ECF and tempering it with what I personally experienced using a v2 type kit. If it helps you, awesome.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ick-starter-guide-i-put-together-friends.html

I wish you luck on your search and enjoy the journey. It is nothing but pure bliss. If in the end you find all this too be too much info, my best recommendation is go for the v2 kit and get started. There's plenty of time for you to find what you will like in the end after you start. :)

Thank you for the tips. Your guide is really awesome. I found it very informative! Thanks for taking time to put it together! :)

As a long time 808 user I can't understand what is so bad about an auto batt? Sure manuals have a couple of small advantages but nothing to make a big song and dance about.

OP, volt cartos, just like every kr808 carto, are refillable. The volts also have a sealed auto battery that solves one of the problems associated with auto batteries namely that juice can sometimes get into your battery and wreck it. Not a major issue for most people though.

The lifetime warranty in v2 batts doesn't make them a great option in the long run. your battery will wear out due to normal use over time, but that's not covered. Wear and tear is never covered under warranty.

smokeless image and v4l have products that are as good or better than v2 for a better price.

Auto batteries will go off in loud places, or used to anyway, I don't know about the newer models. I had an M401 back in 2009, while at an underground metal show it vented on me. lucky for me it was in a protective case, although it did burn through, it did not cause a fire.

I started out with the V2 and then found the Volt. The Volt is less expensive and is just as good, I feel. I also love the different colored batteries that you can order. They just came out with some larger batteries that will hold a charge for a longer period of time. Their customer service is great, too.

The Volt is awesome. I've had mine two weeks, zero problems. I got some blank V2 carts from my local vape store, and they fit the Volt auto batteries just fine. And the Smokeless Image customer service is the best. I sis go out and get an Ego-T a couple of days after I got my Volt, but it is mainly for use at home. The Volt is much more portable for me.

Made this pic to show that a big battery ecig doesn't have to be big:

sizecomparison_02.jpg

1. A standard 510 with standard cartomizer (manual) 180 mAh
2. Take it away! Take it away!
3. A Riva with standard atomizer and cartridge and cone (manual) 700 mAh
4. A standard KR808D-1 with standard cartomizer (automatic) 280 mAh

It doesn't show well in this picture, but the Riva is the same length as the 808. Just a little bit thicker.
