Please make the RM3 top cap reverse threaded!

Does anyone else have an issue with removing their RM2 from their Reo Grand?

Whenever I twist, it just removes the top cap...I have to put all sorts of downward pressure and or potentially mess up my coil trying to get this thing off.

Well if you need to remove it it's usually for the need of rebuilding anyway. Remove the top cap then remove the bottom. They have to come apart anyway right?

If this was something that could be done I would support it... I screwed down my top cap a little too tight once fairly recently, i couldnt get the top cap off... kept unscrewing the rm2... kept trying for the top cap, finally had to break down and grab my gerber grab the brass bottom with the gerber and twist the top cap off...

Rob doesn't make the RM2, he just modifies an existing rda. I've never seen a reverse threaded rda. I put the RM2 on and off the Reo without the top on it, that way I don't over tighten the top. I like my RM2 to be tight so it does not move, I use a fat o-ring or a drip tip o-ring. To get it on or off I loosely grab the posts with a pliers.

great advice, and i realize rob doesnt make the rm2... just wanted to chime in that i understand and support the idea...

might have to grab some spare o rings...

I only take my rba off my mod to clean the unit . Taking it off and on all the time is a bad idea in my opinion . Test your ohms with a voltage meter inspect the unit to make sure you you dont have any wires that will make contact with the cover and run it . Using this method your mod will never have problems . Take a guy that is always taking his atomizer on and off on and off the chances of him messing up his threads over compressing his gaskets increases . Leave the atty on the mod folks your reo will love you for it .

When my cap is on tight, its easier to take it off this way. Take your thumbnail and push at the base of the rm2. Don't break your nail or anytging. Just enough pressure to hold it there while you unscrew the top. I have never had a problem doing this even when the cap seems like its welded to the base. Goodluck with it.

LOL I have to take mine off with some regularity my friend - I'm coil-happy! Got to build new coils and that means popping that RM2 on the ohm meter. I can't even leave a great coil alone for a week - I'm terrible

I do agree that threaded caps on RDAs are not ideal - I much prefer o-ring style. But I've found that by tightening the atty into the 510 connection with a firm hand, and then screwing on the cap with more of a gentle touch, I usually get the result I want when I go to unscrew anything.

I have both my RM2s on O rings and they're screwed in really tightly to get to the right position on the Reo. As a result, it's easy to take off the top cap - which I do every day to change the cotton. I only take off the whole thing to either clean it or check/rebuild a coil.

To unscrew the whole thing I have to take a paper towel and twist hard on the bottom of the RM2. It's a little too tight, but it never comes unscrewed accidentally!

or get a cheap rda and set it up the way Supe set his up...

oh and it arrives tomorrow... now just have to try and get out of work before 3, to get home and sit outside the mailbox... Sweetness is less than 25 miles away from me as of last night... adds more reason to hating Sundays...

When I want the atty off, I get the top cap. When I want the cap, I get the atty. Now if I could just trick myself into thinking that I want the other part when I go to take something off......

this is exactly how i do it

and if I'm taking off the rm2 and it doesn't want to budge i put my tweezers between the posts and turn, but yeah like rob said best to just leave it on cus i damaged the original flanged tube below the gasket, cus I love to fiddle around

I feel like it's hard to get the leads in the right spots for a good reading, which is why I love my ohm meter. But I suppose I could start a new habit.

My feeling is that Robert's advice is a better way to do it. I have one of those handy-dandy ohm meters, but it's better to check the resistance in the "real world", i.e., mounted on the REO. Easy enough to just stick a lead on each screw head. Of course you have to be SURE you've rotated the button to the "OFF" position. Failure to do so can lead to major embarassment and head hanging, as well as possible spring/fuse replacement

This is exactly the problem I was having with my multimeter. It would read ridiculously high or low, then the most minute change of positions, and it would change the reading dramatically. Like 2-3 tenths of an ohm.

Rob, if we're using o-rings, isn't the mod protected because the o-ring is taking the pressure?

Yes it is to a degree but some people go over board when screwing there atomizer on there mods . There so focust on getting the hole in the zen position they will use vice grips to get it there. I say these things to help avoid problems in the future everyone should have a voltage meter . To me its way easier to leave the atomizer on the mod . If you have a cheap voltage meter buy a better meter . When you put the probes on your atomizer post use a little more pressure you will get a better reading
