Hi, all. Apologies for lurking for so long. I've been just happy as a clam with my reo mini. But that tiny magnet on the body came out, and I accidentally put it back in backwards. So now my little blue sliding door is being repelled by the backwards magnet. I know that there are replacement doors on the reomods website, but any new door would also be repelled by the (completely stuck-in) backwards magnet. Is my reo mini utterly destroyed forever, except for doorless at home?? Any help would be SO appreciated!

Thanks, everyone for the super-fast replies (you guys really are a terrific bunch of people), but I've tried all these things with no luck. Nightfell, I read the thread you suggested (thanks, again), but I don't have a soldering iron and I didn't truly comprehend what I'd do with one if I did; and it seems the issue there was with the magnet in the door, rather than in the body of the reo. I'd have no problem at all replacing the door, but the new one would still be rejected by the body. Could someone suggest where I might find a magnet strong enough to pull this sucker out? I've tried an exacto knife and a refrigerator magnet with no luck. I'm imagining those big acme horseshoe magnets from the roadrunner cartoons, but I don't know of an Acme website! Any other suggestions??

If you have the magnet on the body backwards, and you can't get it out, you can always try to turn the one in the door around. Often times, you can find really strong magnets at hardware stores...not your local Ace hardware...more of a specialty store that is your local gem for everything. You can try a hair dryer or heat gun to heat to heat the glue so it will release. Or perhaps apply a small amount of acetone with a q-tip. Do not soak the body in acetone....that will only melt the plastic bits. If all else fails, call or email Rob. He'll help you. :)

Thanks so much, Rhapsodies Fire, I'm going to email Rob (it's really odd that that first name is common to many forum suppliers). I don't have such a go-to little store that I know of, though I'm sure in my humungous city there are such. You're totally right about approaching it by switching around the door magnet to suit my original switcheroo. Maybe he could make me a door with a backwards magnet. I've been saving up for a vv Reo for a while, so I'm hoping he won't charge an arm and a leg for a new mini door (I'd so love one of each of his lovely mods). Your helpfulness continues to astound me. Thank you a million.

Oh, huzzah! I got it out with an especially muscular refrigerator magnet that I had yet to try! Thank you all, again. Now I have to do some serious penance for being a lurker for so long with all the help to newbies that I can possibly offer. But certainly when I (very soon) get my mini its vv brother, I'll be back here, on this side of the help-equation. I'm just way too happy about this!

Welcome tulula and congrats on your new REO. For anyone reading this..... for door only and for anodized, polished, or tumbled you can soak the door in a glass partially filled with acetone for a few hours and it will loosen the super glue. Fill glass only enough to be slightly above magnet when door is placed upside down into glass. I highly discourage soaking the REO body in acetone as the black delrin cover and button can be affected (melted) if left in acetone for too long. Been there, done that when I left a REO soaking, upside down, in a glass with acetone over night, by mistake. If anodized door is left for only a few hours the acetone won't affect the finish.

I haven't done the acetone soak with powder coated so can't recommend for or against. I've done several over the past couple of years. A couple I did because I put the magnet in wrong despite marking them. Some of the very first REOs had magnets that didn't match the newer REOs and REO replacement door so those are the ones I soaked in acetone. One, that I left for only a few hours was unaffected by the acetone but the one left overnight had to go in to REO Spa for rebuild because black delrin cover and button were deformed.

Do not soak any WOOD door in acetone!!!!!!
