Hello everyone . I have been vaping for About 2 months now, ciggeretts free and loving it. I started vaping with the joy ego-c kit. I wanted to try new vaping methods and have been sucking the life out of the ego dual coil cartimizers.
I find that the 2 batteries I'm useing are always draining due to my chain vaping and am looking into something with a large battery live, and VV. I am planning on getting a couple twists for use at work, but was wondering if anyone can recommend something larger. I don't really care if its bulky.
The provari looks nice but for the price I can get 2 of the smoke tech gripper Vv and a bunch of batteries . Any others I should look to? Has anyone used smoke techs grippers ? I don't remember where maybe mad vapes.com has VV kits that you can solder yourself ..?? I can soder but wonder how the quality of the kit is . Any input on what my next step should be before I buy would be great

I've read good things about the Grippers, people seem very pleased with them. There is also the iTaste MVP & Ovale v8. I think Sigelei is about to release an 18650 VV/VW box mod.

Vamo is a good tube, 18350 & 18650 compatibility out of the box, VV/VW, very affordable.

CVI should be in stock again soon and its about $50, VV/VW.

ZMax is another tube option, they are around $70~ w/o kit now.

There is also the eVic from JoyeTech/Ovale. Upgradable firmware, personalized wattage ranges and a bunch of other features.

Can you rank any of these ? I'm not familiar with the brand names and there qualities yet ? I looked up the z max very comparable to the provari at half the price . Now if I throw out the need for the battery to look sleek and slim, and go for something in the 1500-2000 mah or larger whats are my options ? Maybe I should just get a USB pass through battery so I can vape while charging at home ??? I'm on the pc a lot so this may be the best bet

I have the vamo, the evic and an 'imotion+ v2' (provari knock-off from a contest.)

Before the provari crowd gets here, let me suggest avoiding anything that is VV only. (And Provari is a bad place to start anyway. It is super tough, no question, but it costs $200 and is lacking features compared to everything else on the list.. Also, 1 button devices annoy the heck out of me.)

If you like electronics and gadgets, the eVic is great. Check out some of the videos online - its basically a vape computer. VV, VW, onboard charger/passthrough. From the vape side there are a lot of useless features (puff counter, clock) and 1 that is really handy: wattage and voltage profiles. So you can set up things like "this head tastes best if it starts at 9.5W for .2 seconds to preheat, then drops slowly to 6W.." (Profiles are set up on the computer, and it holds 1 VW profile and 3 VV profiles for different resistances.) It's biggest flaw is that it IS electronic - treat it more like a cellphone, less like a hammer.

If you want something reasonably durable and fairly inexpensive, you can get a Vamo for about $35. You'll also need batteries and a charger - there is no onboard charging. I run my vamo with 2 18350s (800mah) stacked, but depending on what batteries you buy it can take 1 18650 (~2000mah) or 1 18350 (stubby/stealth mode, 800mah) without buying any extra bits and pieces. I chain-vape on my 800mah battery and generally get 12 hours or so. (If I'm going out after work I charge at work or swap batteries, otherwise I don't bother and just charge overnight.)

If you want something really cheap, a mechanical mod is the way to go. It is literally just a battery and a switch. Your vape starts at about 4.2V and drops over time. (One concern here is that most don't have a voltage sensor/reader, so you need to keep on top of charging or you will trash the battery.) I'd avoid that for now - the price difference between an $8 gripper and a $35 vamo is minimal, and you need the same batteries/charger anyway...

There are rumours of the vamo v3 starting up, so v2 prices might start to drop soon.

Edit to add: The evic fits "ego-t" 18350 tubes, which makes it super tiny. Doesn't last as long as an 18350 in a vamo, but its decent.

I found a pic showing the vamo in both modes (center is 18350 'stealth', right is 18650 or stacked 18350s. It comes with the extension tube.)

That is something I missed - the vamo does AVG ("I guess its about x volts") and RMS (adjust based on reading the drain to keep it at exactly the requested setting.) Comparing AVG/RMS on the vamo, I suspect evic does RMS but I haven't seen any documentation.

All 3 do PWM - they basically have 2 voltages and switch rapidly to average the desired energy. Vamo is 30hz (fast enough, but sometimes you can hear it "rattlesnake") and evic is 200hz (insanely fast.) IIRC the provari is in the middle somewhere.

Faster is 'better' but its not a huge difference, except it makes it really hard to judge their voltage accuracy. (You need a decent oscilloscope, not just a multimeter.)

{ETA again..} Mechanical is straight off the battery, so there is no PWM/RMS/AVG/etc - it is a flat voltage at whatever the battery is outputting.
