J: How would I do that?

go to your PM screen, inbox or sent, and at the bottom right are links you can click to download your PM's

once you do that you have a hard copy on your PC locally and can delete them here online.

E: It certainly would be nice to have them readily available, if possible. 2000 just isn't enough. I've already deleted more than I'm comfortable with :p

I saw that and I have downloaded it all three ways but now I don't know how to get them into a spreadsheet. :(
as long as u know where u downloded them to you have 2 options:

1) right click the file as and choose "open with" and use u'r spreadsheet program

2) go to u'r spreadsheet program, choose file, open, then browse to get to where you downloaded u'r files.
