Ego, can you tell us all a bit about your experiences with using Poly Foam in your cart's? :D

lol... I was trying the blue foam and had success with it for VG but it would flood my atty with PG. I dont have patience for exact measuring so I looked for a substitute. I was shopping with my wife at hobby lobby and ran across PolyFoam. It has no added chemicals and works perfect for me. I vape heavy on a 510. I use the polyfoam with a straw under it so it doesnt push to the bottom of the cart. Cut like a blue foam slug mod. Here are some pics of the foam found at hobby lobby for $1.99. It is not compressed layers. It is just like the blue foam but thicker. I can put up pics of the slug I use if needed. Eclypse already did all the measuring as I follow his mod specs with polyfoam instead.

What does the package say it's made of? Is it polyurethane?

Doesn't say. It does have a web site and when I looked it said it was polyurethane. The package says (cool, durable, odorless, washable, breathable, non-allergenic, made in usa, bio-based technology foam). I assumed it was ok to inhale since it says breathable. It doesnt burn. I hope its ok because it works awesome for me. Google americanexcelsior for website. Im too much of a noob to post links. :)

Very interesting looking material. I think there's another product called Poly-fil Nu Foam, but I think that was more like compressed poly-fil. And what your showing looks more like blue foam... Only white. I'd be more apt to try your Poly-Foam over the Nu Foam. Boy this gets confusing really fast. I'm actually happy with what I'm using but can see the potential. The bottom line is how does it compare to the properties of standard Poly-fil?

Since it looks like it's all one piece and not just compressed poly-fil, is a straw necessary at all? While I haven't had a chance to use blue foam, I thought that would work without a straw or spring or whatever to support it.

P.S. This tread starts off like a television interview. How weird is that? Are we on television?

A straw isnt needed. It doesnt burn and it doesnt leak. I had a problem with the blue foam leaking. I probably was cutting it 1/8 of an inch too long...lol...I have no patience for that. I just cut the poly foam by eye balling it and have had no problems. I emailed the company that makes it to ask if its breathable when on fire. Still waiting for a response. It doesnt burn with a 510 atty but I am trying to be safe and not kill myself. Like Dr. House said, I am too much of a noob to do much around here.

I have a very informative update. I spoke with American Excelsior Company (the poly foam company). I asked about toxins and how safe the foam was. The conversation went something like this. "Is the poly foam toxic if it catches fire?" - Yes, even poly fiber is toxic when it burns and will create a bad taste if inhaled - (I explained what I was using it for and how the nicotine juice worked in a 510 cart, I was very detailed). "Are you familiar with MarineLand water filters for fish tanks?" - Yes, it is also toxic if it burns. The poly foam is a little thick or it could be used in place of the marine foam - "If I filled the poly foam with water and squeezed it out could I drink it?" -Yes, I would recommend washing it first. Like a water filter you would want to put it through a cycle to get out any debris that could be in the filter while being packaged- "So is the poly foam safe to filter liquid nicotine?" -Yes, as long as it doesnt catch fire, you don't want to breathe the fumes, same for the marine filter (blue foam).

So I guess everything we use for plugs are toxic if they burn. Thought that was nice to know. Now that I know the poly foam is safe to use as a filter as long as it doesn't burn, I will be going back to it. Its only $1.99 and it works better for me. Never leaks and supplies me with perfect juice every vape. If you try it, make sure you wash it first to remove any dust or debris.

Thanks for the info! heh yeah even on the fluval fish filters they mention to rinse it well before using it in the arquarium.

Yeah i've noticed with the blue foam if you do manage to burn it (if its close enough to the bottom of the atty where the coil is) you can feel it as well on your toung as it like tingles your toung along with a serious nasty taste! So, heh you'll know if ya cook it. :)

Also when you pull the foam out to pat it dry you'll see little black spots on the foam where it melted.

Glad i made the cut in half cart and 510 atty so i can see just how close to put the foam plug so its not close enough to the coil where all the heat is.

I doubt this is a problem though with your poly foam just like the blue foam if you do it right.

Remember that the regular poly-fil that comes with the carts is hairy/stingy and it can and will end up having pieces of the poly up and round the atty bridge where it would be too close to the coil and melt.. People always complain about the nastey poly-fil burnt taste.
