Hi folks,

I've vaping since August of 2013 and have been smoke free for nearly six months. I started originally with Blu ecigs and was surprised that I was able to get a semi decent throat hit with them. The battery life of blu didn't work for me and I upgraded to a innokin vv/vw and, eventually, to an MVP both of which had a much better throat hit than the blu.

I place a high importance on the throat hit I get from vaping. Actually, the throat hit is more important to me than the flavor itself. I've read that higher PG mixtures in ejuice can increase throat hit and have experimented with higher PG level juices. However, I've also noticed that certain flavors seem to hit better than others with the same pg/vg mixture and nic levels. I've found that flavors with menthol and/or cinnamon in them seem to me to have better throat hits so I have gravitated toward those. Some flavors seem to have no throat hit at all.

Can anyone offer any advice regarding favoring the throat hit from vaping over flavor? Special flavors or vendors to try? Is there any way to salvage a "hitless" ejuice of which I have several? So far, for me, getting a good throat hit ejuice is just a random, luck of the draw, type thing.

Thanks,

Kevin

Kevin,

I agree with you on throat hit. That is one of the most important things for me in my vaping experience. I can relate to high pg juices varying a bit from juice to juice, but all in all if it is high pg it usually gets the job done for me... Ever since I got into rebuilding I have no Issues getting great throat hit even in 40/60 juices *pg/vg* (I typically vape 70/30) My kayfun delivers awesome throat hit as long as it is not 100% vg

I would highly suggest getting into rebuilding if it is throat hit you are after

The nic gives the most TH from the liquid aspect IMO. I notice very little difference in pg content for TH. I completely agree with what was said earlier that rebuilding is the way to get the most TH. I've seen people who vape 24mg in a protank get choked up on 6mg from a rebuilt dripper. Also you dont have to do fancy low ohm builds either and your mvp is a great device for learning to build on. The surface area a dripper gives you will chuck a lot more vapor at you on a 2.0 build vs a 1.5 stock coil.

I also place a high priority on TH over flavor (although I do like flavor). Some eliquids that I have liked that are NOT cinnamon/menthol are 3 from Vaperite: Caramel Brulee, straight tobacco & cherry cola. I also like eliquids from Azure vaping: banana nut bread & Irish Cream. There are others too but my top 2 favs right now are the Caramel brulee & cherry cola.

Incidentally, I do use high nic eliquids (18mg) so that makes a difference. A lower nic level will hot give as much TH. And the Pg/vg ratio for me is 70/30.

Give Blue Voodoo from MEL a try. Strongest TH that I have had to date. I get the 18mg in 33% VG (MEL house blend). I have a feeling you will like it if you like big TH.

If you don't care about flavor, and just want to doctor up your weak TH juices, just pick up a bottle of higher unflavored nicotine base, and add that to your juice. Just top off your bottles with the next up mg of nicotine and a syringe, and you should be good to go.

I don't think PG increases TH hit as much as VG muffles it, so the higher the PG the greater the TH.

Thanks for the advice. I'm not sure I'm ready for "rebuilding" yet since I literally don't even know the first thing about it. I'll start looking into it, though.

I appreciate all the replies and advice. I'm already vaping at 18mg nic and I don't want to increase that just for TH. I bought one flavor that I really liked from a local vape shop at 18 nic that I actually took back to have them try it as I was convinced that it was a no-nic juice that had been mislabeled. I got zero TH from it. The owner tried it and told me that it seemed normal to him and that the flavor of that particular juice was very smooth. I even picked up a 24mg nic of the same juice just to see if it made a difference. It didn't. It just seems that some juices don't "get it" for me.

Suggested flavors/vendors from other other TH lovers is exactly what I needed. I'll look into each of the flavors that were suggested and especially try to keep with the 70/30 pg/vg mix.

Thanks again

Kevin

OK, so it's been a couple of weeks and I thought I would post my experiences so far. I decided to follow your advice. Watched a few youtube vid reviews and decided to order a Russian 91% clone. Watched a few more vids and learned how to build a microcoil on it. It took several tries to get it working including a nasty metallic taste before I took further advice from posts on this forum and washed the thing (I tend to learn all my lessons the hard way).

After a good wash with dish soap and dry, the bad taste went away and I build my first successful coil last night (28g kanthal, 7-8 wraps, 1.1 ohm) and ran it on my MVP. I used an old juice I didn't really care for and got nice TH, full flavor (still not particularly fond of this juicel). I'm impressed.

I'm using cotton for the wick. Reads "100% cotton" on the package, not organic or sterile. I can't get anything else in the stores around my little po-dunk town. I have some ordered though. I didn't boil it either because I didn't have the patience or energy for that. Nevertheless, I haven't noticed a bad taste with the run-of-the-mill cotton balls so I'll continue to use that until my order comes in.

Thanks much for the advice, bholcomb22.
