Popping and spitting juice with a microcoil

Recently I have done 3 micro coils. 2 in RM2s and one in an IGO-L that are doing something none of my other ones have before. For about the first 3 mL I run through them they crackle and pop and spit juice up the drip tip. Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong? If it isn't normal any idea how to fix it?

I can work around the annoyance of hot juice on the lips by a longer drip tip but I was concerned there is something I am not doing right here.

Spit back usually happens when you over drip, even with a regular coil.

But this can also happen if you use too little cotton...

Could you show us a picture of your setup?

I am having trouble getting a good picture of it with my phone but here ya go

I am wondering if maybe I am not getting enough cotton in there.

EDIT: Since I posted this I pulled out the cotton and inserted fresh cotton in this build making sure to use a larger piece and the spitting seems to have stopped.

TY guys I would never have thought of that as the problem.
