portable charging question

I was wondering if anyone knew how well something like

DealExtreme: $33.02 4000mAh External Battery Power Charger with Cell Phone Adapters (Black)

that would for charging your PV while on the go, or using it for a PT while on the go would work?

It should be fine for charging batteries but I don't think I'd use it for a PT since it says "Output: 5V/650mA (max)". I just don't think that's enough current to run a PT safely. You'd want something that has a rating of around 2 amps output for that.

Indeed cskent, the output is too low to run a passthrough properly. (see also hits like a small kitten) It might be able to charge if you've got a usb charger for your ecig, but I believe the charge will be a bit slower than normal.

We are always using regular shaped batteries and such, why not save space or something with a flat type battery?

Cost mostly. The batteries are more expensive, the chargers are more expensive and as most mods these days are tube style the round batteries just fit better. Could they work? Don't see why not...but they aren't really optimal.

I don't see why you couldn't build a mod around a flat battery if you want something different. It's 1150 mah so it would last a while between charges, but it doesn't say anything about protection circuitry. There was a thread a while back about using a laptop battery to build an HV mod.

I believe since it's meant to be used in a phone that they are protected but would have to check

Would work great for making compact mods

But the only problem might be trying to stack them. But making them parallel shouldn't be a problem

But heck if I know
