Did it come that way from IBT or is that a DYI paint job?

That's IBT's "craftsmanship". I've seen photos of a couple of their tanks come out alright, but more that were just really poorly done. That's why I skipped the swirls/patterns figuring at the very least they'd use colored glass for the solid ones. No dice.

It looks like nail polish with glitter in it. I thought it was supposed to look like that and I wasn't all that keen on the texture so I opted for no color on my tanks.

Their photos don't make it look 'textured' from what I saw. Plus, bubbles from a sloppy paintjob hardly count as texture. I would just order a clear replacement, but I'm thinking glassgal can make me something better :) Either way, it won't be around for long.

OMG. I was pleased with mine until I just looked closer. There was a hair captured in the paint. ...? It came out with a little elbow grease. I should have taken a picture. Probably could have talked my way into a free tank.

I got 3 tanks. Until I was reading about their paintjobs I was set on the bold swirl. So I took my chances on a solid color tank & left the other 2 clear. If I ignore the paint, they're awesome tanks. But being a craftsman myself, I just see it as shoddy work & was really disappointed. The hair takes the cake though.

I would contact them. I've had a couple of issues in the past and they were right on it.

ETA: To be fair, I thought the painted ones looked like cr@p in the pictures. I only ordered the two swirls for fun, I prefer the clear ones.

Your swirl (I'm pretty sure it was yours anyways) was the only bold black swirl that I've seen a photo of that looked nice. I'm not going to bother them over a couple dollar tube. It holds liquid, doesn't leak & gives me a great excuse to harass glassgal :)

When I looked at some of the colors like the Royal Blue, it looks textured. But I definitely wouldn't expect bubbles. For you stealth, what about sandblasted, then oil paint it black? Might give it a gray look though....I'm sure glassgal will be able to do a design that is permanently fixed to the outside of the tank.

So I'm not losing my mind. I saw the same thing, especially with the all painted tanks.

I didn't really look at all the colors all that closely, just the couple I might be interested in. If Glassgal can work some magic for me, I'd want something customized for me, but completely in her style. It doesn't have to be stealth-themed. It'd just rock to have a handmade tank from another Provarinati :)

I have 3 different IBT tanks.
1 is clear.
1 is a 2 color bold swirl. It is obviously hand painted on. It is not perfectly even. There are sections where it is a little thinner than other sections. It doesn't bother me. I see it as a hand made custom tank. Part of its charm!
1 is a Silver and Black "mottled". It is not smooth. It has a texture. Not rough. No bubbles or hairs. It is also sort of flat, not shiny. Like urban cammo. Again I see it for what it is, hand made.

If you are unhappy, you SHOULD contact them. They are good people and are concerned with customer satisfaction.

Here are pictures of all 3 with the detail cranked up a bit.

I just pulled out my clear IBTanked and filled it with juice. I was looking at it in the light and I noticed a scratch on the glass that is bad enough that I can feel it. I don't know if I did it when filling it as I don't remember laying it on it's side. I checked the other one I got which was still in the container and it's fine. Borosilicate glass shouldn't scratch that easily. I'll have to check with glassgal to make sure though. I work with soda lime glass which is different.
