I just pulled out my clear IBTanked and filled it with juice. I was looking at it in the light and I noticed a scratch on the glass that is bad enough that I can feel it. I don't know if I did it when filling it as I don't remember laying it on it's side. I checked the other one I got which was still in the container and it's fine. Borosilicate glass shouldn't scratch that easily. I'll have to check with glassgal to make sure though. I work with soda lime glass which is different.

Susan, Borosilicate isn't scratch resistant... it's shock, chemical, temperature resistant. It has the same hardness as soda lime, which is about 5.5 moh... meaning anything harder will scratch it. Steel can scratch boro...

My pornvari for the day (I'm vaping the one on the right now:)):

I think that's just "their look". Except the hair. Could that, by the way, be from a paintbrush?
They look to me like they "spin" the tube, and hold a paintbrush up against it for a few seconds, and "swirl" is what you get - it's paintbrush, and isn't going to be perfectly even...
I have a silver swirl, and it's what I expected.
I was kind of thinking of getting one in solid "abysse". Anyone have that, and could post a photo???

I thought it would be harder than soda lime glass. Good to know.

What color is that pink you're using? Is that color on the bottom Double Amber Purple? I might have to break out my boro glass and try to do something with it. I bought a boatload when Winship had a warehouse in Torrance and never really got into using it.

Great idea!! I would never have thought. I like using smaller tanks at times....

Just to distinguish just how GLORIOUS Glassgal's tanks are, here is a ProVari sporting a ProTank Mini.
Just to show it can be done (it's a regular ProTank base - yes, they fit ProTank minis, too)!

Susan... boro IS harder, it's just not scratch resistant. Hardness is often confused with scratch resistance because of what you can use to scratch it. But 2 substances of the same hardness that can scratch each other can have very different densities. Consider that the hardest stainless steel, say a steel file, is a 7 hardness. And so is a slice of agate. Now throw both of them on some marble (a 6 hardness) .... the steel file and agate slice are the same hardness, will the same thing happen to each:)? What will happen to the softer marble? (nothing).

Boro is DENSER than soft glass. It has different properties from soft glass. It takes a higher melting temperature than soft glass. It's also a higher anneal temperature. It's a boatload harder to break than soft glass. But scratches just fine:).

Color... I don't think I have double amber purple in there. I think the 3 colors are GA Triple Passion, either GA Coral Blush, GA Tequila Sunrise, or Momka pink, and either NS Purple Luster or Momka Light Purple Haze (more likely). I like Double purple amber tho, just didn't have it on the table.

I like the middle one best... because the red and white look like santa:)!!

I like the top one 2nd best, because it's all in that sparkly/shiny family. Is it possible to put the white caps on the silver, then maybe drop a red dangly with more same shade crystals down the front?

Or have you tried a white matt tip on the middle one? The translucent tip on the matt Provari is what doesn't match perfectly:).

And thanks Stormy!!

I did until I just made a spreadsheet that tells me how much I've saved vs how much I've spent. I'm ok with what I've got all of a sudden.

We're not suppose to talk about vape spreadsheets that might scare the hell out of some folks, might make others feel guilty, might land those with SO's in the dog house without their dinner.

My vape spreadsheet was started with good intentions, but has mostly become just information for me to chuckle at myself. Not because of the amount spent, I've always been a cash and carry buyer and covered it, but because going in I had no idea it would become what it has. I have no regrets, it's been a fun ride that I don't plan to ever get off of.

If I didn't spend another dime it would be about 8 more months before I would just break even with what the analogs would have cost me for just the first 7 months alone. IOW I've spent over two times what the smokes would have cost in buying gear, tools and DIY supplies to date. And I'm just getting started since the new ProVari's have raised the bar significantly. With custom gear that is already in work for them, new ProVari family additions and other planned gear/accessories on the near horizon I'll never break even. So it's probably about time to put the spreadsheet in the circle file and just concentrate on the neverending party. ;)

 Yeah, spreadsheets are so scary! :D

I'm a math/numbers guy so I just have to know. I've got a ticker like what's in a lot of people's sigs, I log every purchase in another column & every morning about the same time I record the difference for a graph. It's less for influencing my purchasing - I keep a strict budget with Quicken, if I've got the money I can spend it, if not, next month perhaps - but more for my knowledge & the fun of watching the numbers. I might add an expected break even date field once I have more data for to calculate a trend, but it's not all that important.

Spreadsheets and breaking even... Personally, I'm into vaping for harm-reduction. Since I substituted vaping for smoking 3 years ago, I do not exceed what I spent on tobacco per month. ($255.00) If I see vape-gear I like, and it's within the budget, I buy it. Whatever is left, gets spent on other things. ;)

I know If I were to quit vaping, I would be right back to tobacco within a couple of days anyway. I enjoyed smoking, and didn't blink an eye buying my cigs and cigars for many years.. Same with vaping. :) It is nice to be able to trade / sell the gear if I choose.. Couldn't do that with a pile of empty packs, ashes, and butts.

Given enough time (around 15 years if I understand correctly) the lungs do regenerate. I have 12 to go. :) I do know that the Doc reported my lungs were clear during my last check-up, I can breathe MUCH easier, and have a better quality of life compared to 3 years ago.

This is why I substituted vaping for smoking... Money has nothing to do with it. ;)

Stormy - I like the "Santa" setup the best too! :D

I was spending $400/mo on tobacco. The health benefit of not smoking definitely outweighs what I've spent on vape gear. I did kind of go crazy the first couple months but now I pretty much have everything I need/want and I just buy new tips and tanks occasionally so I think everything evens out after a while. :)

Another gorgeous tip from Molehill Mountain! :D This one is made out of Australian Banksia Pod with Acrylic (the last pic is what the pod looks like... kind of like a pine cone). They have natural holes where seeds were and those get filled with acrylic. Info and pod pic from the Molehill Mountain.
