I've never used narcotics og drugs. I've used painkillers subscribed by my doctor (in the past) but it's probably a year since I last recall using any.

I have used e-cigs for about a year now, in fact it did help me quit smoking tobacco.

Today we had a random drug test at work and I tested positive (urine) for opiates, specificly morphine. The only thing I can think of causing it is the e-cig. I've been using different e-juice over the last month but lately been sticking to iSmokeKing's High Tide -flavour with 0,6mg nicotine.

Anyone else have experience with drug/urine tests and e-cigarettes? E-cigarettes arent that common in Norway yet, people generally have a bad idea of what it is and what it does. I don't know what to do now, actually risk getting my life turned upside down due to this.

Not to be funny, but have you eaten poppy seed cake, pastries or maybe bagels? That could possibly cause a false positive if you ate enough. It's is not in any legitimate nicotine eliquid, that I am sure of. But it's a big world out there. All I can say is this is NOT an issue with nicotine, PG/VG or flavoring.

Welcome, BTW.

Have you eaten any bakery products with poppy seeds? Bagles and muffins seem a much more likely candidate than eliquid.

I'm not aware of any juice that might cause that.

I've been vaping for almost 5 years, I had a full screening last year for a new life insurance policy and the only thing that showed was nicotine. It wasn't even all that high considering I vape 15 mg/ml and sub ohm with deep lung hits.

OP,

Just found this, so it *may* be of some help: Toxicologic Testing for Opiates: Understanding False-Positive and False-Negative Test Results

Just make sure you don't roll over. The point is that you know you haven't taken what they are actually testing for, so there is some recourse of action here. If you start saying "it may be in this product," I think that makes you look other than how you wish. Your situation should not about anything other than the fact that you have not taken opiate-containing drugs (whether prescription or otherwise). Leave it at that (at least to your employer) and fight!

do you have a "friend" that wants to get you loaded and in bed via a drink or food??? the poppy seed ingestion could also be a slight contributor... or else, someone messed up on the samples provided, paperwork, testing procedures ( not cleaning the equipment correctly) demand a retest... fill another cup.. :)

Contact your E-liquid supplier and Check your Pantries.

Sounds all wrong.

I had to go back and re-read that. It didn't read as check you pantries on first glance

I'm not sure about the laws there but in the U.S. you have the right to demand a second test.

Seriously I read a news clip about a bus driver that was suspended after a random drug test and came up positive for opiates because she ate poppy seed bagels every morning for breakfast. Drug tests are horribly unreliable so if you know you didn't, make sure they know you didn't and demand a retest.

I second checking food you ate and going to the family doctor for a test. When I was working my night shift security we would be drug tested once a month. I never once tested positive even vaping 15-20ml a day. I don't trust drug tests from employers that much, I would go get a drug test from a doctor. This is the first I've heard about it, but I have heard about the thing moonlitwish is talking about.

Was this a test administered at your office or did you go to a lab and get blood drawn? The cheap tests done at work sites (and on the road side by police) give a lot of false positives. Can't imagine anything in e-liquids that would cause this unless the manufacturer is actually adding opiates to the juice.
