Oh for Pete's sake. If they're going to get silly about all of this, then you'd think they'd be looking to ban caffeine and sugars first. Those substances would have more of an effect on athletic performance than nicotine. When used improperly, those energy drinks can be dangerous.

How did we get to this point where nicotine is the root of all evil?

As soon as I saw this thread, I was gonna come in here and say "Caffeine is a drug too, but they won't ban Coke, Pepsi, Coffee, and Energy Drinks." Too much money rolling in to ban those...

But you beat me to it :)

LOL, great minds think alike.

It's ridiculous how everyone thinks it's perfectly fine to beat up on smokers all of the time but even suggest that someone is compromising their health by overeating, being promiscuous or lazy, etc. and you've got the PC police squawking about being judgmental. Singling out one particular group and heaping taxes, penalties, and constant criticism on them is unjust.

It personally makes me mad when I'm in line to check out at the grocery store and I see people with carts loaded full of sodas, junk food and frozen pizzas using their food stamps card to pay for it. But I don't say anything to them even though my tax dollars are paying for that crap. I don't get why attacking smokers at every opportunity has become a righteous pursuit.

Very well said, and I could not agree more.

Me either. I'm relatively young (27), and it's amazing to me just how much the animosity towards smoking has increased in the last 10 years.

I both chuckle and frown, when I think that back in the 90's you could still smoke anywhere, and nobody got all snarky about it. (caught a movie from '94 or '96 on tv last night, and guy just lights up in the middle of a bank. no problem.)

I know smoking is bad for you (hence the switch to vaping). All smokers do. It'd be nice if the "righteous" would just lay off a little bit.
