I've been through 3 cards since Christmas. Bank caught it and shut the cards down, but it's a pain in the ... because I rarely carry cash. Bought a couple of mini Subtanks from MFS in March, but then I spent a week in the Keys and my wife and I both had card issues after that. Not sure what card I used @ MFS, I use gift cards when I'm unsure about places I'm shopping.

I have bought from MFS several times this year and no problems at all. I do not leave my credit card info up there for future purchases though and feed it in every time.

I've done a bit of business with them over the past 6 months. I'm the same way. The problem was that someone had inserted some malicious code into the web page so it trapped credit card information that was fed to the site as the transactions took place. I'm not sure if stored information would have been breached, but it was for people that enter their credit information on each purchase. Happened to me, had to replace my card and cancel and create a new account number. Although, I still haven't received any information from MFS and I did purchase during the period in question.

I got the letter, and immediately contacted my credit-card company. (The idiot on the phone asked me if I wanted to change the whole CC number, or just the 3-digit CCV. Ummm, ya think?)

Anyway, I didn't get any unauthorized charges, and there's only one site that has my CC info permanently on record (The bastids at PayPal).

ETA: Just remembered the folks at AAAAAAARP also have my old CC.
(It's an automobile club for elderly drunks).

I got hit for $200 because of MFS, needless to say, I won't be shopping there anymore even though I got most of my money back. The problem for me is their lack of transparency and the fact that it took over a month to send me an email saying that my information had been compromised. By that point it was already taken care of by my bank.

I just can't ever trust a company once they've lost control of the data that I gave them in confidence so my suggestion to everyone would be to use MFS at your own risk or better yet find another supplier.

My bank was unable to retrieve ~$30 of the stolen money so that's money I'm out, and I certainly haven't heard or seen any indication that MFS is trying to make that right, a silly email just doesn't cut it.
