There are several other article links related to nicotine as well. Mostly researchers are using the patch in their studies. Wonder if we could talk them into using PVs?

Nice find, Elaine. It confirms what smokers have known all along -- smoking DOES have benefits!!

However, it also confirms what I see as why BP is so against e-cigs and smoking in general...they want all nicotine to be by "prescription" only. I think Kate has been right about that all along.

Well, honestly, I kinda did...back in March '09 when I started vaping, I had no clue! Thanks to Kate, T-Bob, Sun, you, and many others, I know a hell of a lot more now than I ever really wanted to know

Thanks so much for the research link Vocalek! Not sure if I'm reading it right but pages 26, 27 show a decrease? in blood pressure?
I would have never guessed.

I work with the geriatric population and has reviewed several studies verifying this. In fact, I was part of a recent Smoking Cessation Summit and I made it a point to distinguish between smoking and nicotine useage. So many of these experts don't know the very basics about nicotine, yet they can influence policy. I asserted that we should not create bad policy that might harm one segment of the population (people with dementia or neurological disorders) in a misguided effort to help some others. This alarmist, reactive culture we live in and the "Do Something Now!" mentality increases the likelihood that such policies will be implemented. Thinking before acting, people.

Not to mention that my induction of harm reduction theory went over like a lead balloon. I won't stop using my voice until they kick me out. These alternative approaches to improving health need to be discussed if we are to really help anybody. The all or nothing approach to smokers' lives is misguided and downright deadly, imo.
