My suggestion would to find another shop, that is the saddest thing I've heard of is selling a device and charging you for an extra coil with no instruction at all.

I live in a tiny town. Like 6000 max people. Only shop for miles. That's probably why they can get away with running it how they do. Most of the people who have gotten into vaping here have because of that place. And if you go in there asking for help on a device you didn't get from them in the first place they're really judgey about it. They're the holier than thou hipster kind of people and I'm just not about that.

I'm sorry you took my comment as being rude...far from it. It was a straight forward and direct comment. I'm concerned about safety and safe vaping. I've seen a mod go on thermal run away before, and the thought of that happening to anyone is bothersome. I'm glad you were helped here...stay safe!

As far as the resistance math goes, if you have the two coils in parallel (both in the same negative and positive posts of your RDA) the resistance will be cut in half. Now if they are in a series (both coils in different negative and positive posts of the RDA) the resistance will double. So dual .8 ohm coils ran in parrallel would be .4ohms, and dual .8 ohm coils ran in a series would be 1.6 ohms. Like others have said, do not neglect the need for an ohm reader if you are building and using a mechanical mod. You need to make sure your battery can handle a certain amp load of your build.

It's cool dude. I just really don't want to come across as someone who is neglecting safety so I can blow huge cloudsbroclouds. I genuinely have an interest in how it all works and seeing as there isn't anyone I can trust to talk to face to face I came here. Thanks for the concern and the help

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but you really have a point here.
I still haven't put a coil on my rda yet, because from what you guys have said and other blog posts on here about battery safety and ohms law etc, has left me holding back until I can get a decent enough reader and build my own coils. I'm still puffin on my pro tank 2 mini.
The reason for this is I know have two buddies (with absolutely no knowledge on vaping whatsoever) who have gone to my local wanting a replacement for cigs, and they've both spent 140/150 bucks on a setup. One has a manhatten and the other a fuhatten. Both have plume veils on them. My friend who most recently went there was messaging me about how his rda is getting really hot and is too harsh for him to hit because of how hot the vape is. I asked him what ohms the coil build is and they said they didn't even tell him.
They didn't even tell him.
They just took 150 bucks from him, built a coil on it and sent him on his way with absolutely no information knowing full well that he went there with no knowledge as a smoker wanting to quit.

What.

I hope you now realize why I don't want to go to that place and would rather go the online route.

Thanks for that link! I've got an ohm reader I've been using for a few years now and it's a nice solid piece. However, I like to have a backup or 2 hanging around. I bought another one last year that looked like my first one but was really disappointed when I got it at how cheaply made it was. I just bought one of these and I'm hoping it 's a lot sturdier made.

You can calculate resistances quite accurately. What you can't calculate is short circuits or other anomalies. That's why you should always check your builds' resistance, and not simply guesstimate.
