Morning.
Anyone else notice that "Avatar Parties" don't get many avatars anymore? Or is it just me?
We need to get people to change avatars, or rename the thing (and it's part of the contest info... so prolly can't rename). I know participation is optional and all, but more of us have to participte or it's just whiskey!
And another thing. Now I have to try and find a "guy" avatar for wire-wrapped jewelry (not that I'm complaining about the theme, but you gals could help out a bit by changing your avatar or something.) I'm already feeling like the only guy in the thread on a regular basis. All the rest just do "flybys", so there's no avatar changes for them....

As a side benefit...
Changing the avatars helps make the whole PVT thing more visible since it changes for all your posts throughout the forum. So it's PVT "advertising" or "awareness" or whatever. And if people see something is "going on" they are more likely to participate. It's an event.
Not picking on anyone or anything... I've gotten at least 1 PM about it. Don't feel bad or anything. We need to discuss this as a group, IMO. NOT picking on individuals, just discussing group-stuff in the group-stuff thread.

no, you're right Atty. I gave up in April because there were just too many and i felt bad doing it for some and not others...And i can't manage to not let myself be OCD about them when i do them

And that's valid. I totally understand that.
Look you guys don't answer to me. Do as you wish/can manage. I just got to the point where I thought I'd mention it since I skipped one or two lately too. Collectively, I think we can solve it despite personal schedule issues. I suppose we can come up with other solutions.
For example, we could have a "Default Avatar" (maybe text, gender neutral) for a PVTer to set their avatar to if they don't have time. Then, we'd just change the one source avatar for each turning. IDK...I'd have to test and see if the avatars change if you use an external link... I don't think so. So you'd still have to change it X times per day in your "settings" page.

You bring up real concerns. I feel bad if I miss one, or get busy, take vacation, whatever. I think we're "stuck" with the avatar thing though, and that's not necessarily bad. It is cool how it changes everywhere and that's the original intent.
I understand about getting OCD about it! However, the default-avatar thing may help take some pressure off too. Maybe the person assigned to do the welcome thread also creates the default avatar, or finds someone to do it. That way we can make sure it gets done.
I'll volunteer to help with the default-avatar creation for those that don't feel comfortable doing it. Particularly since I haven't created many welcome threads. I'm not sure I want to create 100% of them all the time tho, so I'm hoping others will create them too.

I need to think about the default avi idea....it could be a very good one- though it does get confusing when people have the same avi..but that could end up being part of the fun ...........
Good point CES. Maybe it's better not to have a default then. Just ask whiskey, she has 100's. I like it when they are all different too.
