LOL...Fran, Thats what I suggested and was even in the works to do, but that never happened and thats where the root of this problem began in the first place...
I take full blame for being lead into the contests as a good thing....Someone was smart enough to know this would obligate us into something that became a real problem instead of what was supposed to happen. Tibs, I should have listened to you in the first place!

a new, open social group for the list does make the most sense. I just don't want to see the celebrations moved to a social group- that's what i was not in favor of.

I nominate Atty to contact admin and see what they're willing to do to help ;)

(the contest is completely out of our hands)

true - but whoever runs the contest should come up with some solution how to handle a required avi party and turning when none of you will be available .....

PMs notifying PreVets that they are approaching veteran status will not be sent out. Members must make it to the PreVet thread on their own, or with the help of a friend.:)

Please read the First Post in the PreVet thread for additional information.

Welcome to the ECF Pre-Vet thread!

And, as an added bonus, celebrating your special day with us entitles you to an entry in the Veteran 2012 Contest!

You can find further information here:http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/contests/256629-veteran-2012-contest.html

Times for our turnings are all Eastern and looked up by an ECF Moderator.
Dates are checked by at least two people but, when dealing with different time zones and the forum software not recognizing leap year, mistakes can happen. ;)

If you don't see yourself listed, or don't see a theme listed for your day and you want one, let us know.
Your presence on the PreVet thread is required if you requested an Avatar Party. Please, join us in advance of your turning time and enjoy the celebration

frannie!!!!! this yearlong contest was attached to pvt and there's no getting around it!
somebody came up with the idea and obligated the pvt team ........

True, but AFAIK, nobody signed any contracts or anything. We're all free agents and we are not being compensated for our work--and we do work hard here. I'm not trying to stir the pot--this is a straightforward question--why is there no way of getting around it???? We agreed to the contest at some point in time because some of us ;) believed it was a good idea/it would work/whatever, but now we've discovered that that wasn't the case. We acted in good faith and tried to accomodate the contests idea as best we could. Since it obviously didn't work out, why can't prevets be separated from the contests, as Fran had suggested?

But Tibs...that takes time & effort & dedication....

It sure does. And I, for one, can't provide the time/effort/dedication that is required to maintain the present pace of prevets that has been imposed on us by the contests rules. Many PVT members have left due to the increased workload and commitment and there have been many instances where I was the only person present for late night turnings. I had to leave my dinner preparations or other family/work obligations, or stay up late, just to be here for those late night turnings. I really can't do it for the remainder of the year. The summer is here, my children are at home and I have to work.

hiya, fran and tweety! ;) it has slowed down quite a bit since those mass mailings have been discontinued and the pace is not too bad. but before, when we had a time conflict, we could postpone the turning with the prevet's help and launch the fireworks when we could attend. now that means prevets give up their chance for the grand prize.
imo, admin should provide some input especially since the contest creator hasn't worried about those obligations. out of desperation, i would pm those late-night turners just to ''please post even if there is no one on the thread.'' but tweety came through each and every time and neither whis nor i missed any or, at least, not both of us at the same time.
after all that effort to see what happened when whis was gone a few days just finished it for me.

Pre-vet got too complicated, now it's about to crash. I'm not putting the blame on anyone, but I can see that it has affected nearly everyone who has posted here in the last few days.

The turning parties, no doubt were fun for many, but they involved a lot of work and became tiring as many of you are finding out.

Like it has been suggested, the contest should be separated from PVT. Perhaps it's time to go back to the roots of PVT and just have the welcome threads in the Veteran's Forum. Clean, simple and a good chance of longevity.
