There is a lot to be said for being an empty nester. The two happiest moments in a parent's life is the day you bring them home and the day you wave goodbye.

Don't even go there. I'm ready to cry...

I have one more child, two more years, and then they are both gone.

It seems like I just brought them home last week...

Hi, JJ...

Thanks for cheering me up. I've been feeling kinda blue.

My daughter was back for temporary stays three times.
My son is here now. Once you get use to them not being here, it's hard to do.
Son will be here probably until he gets married---maybe sometime in the next year if things work out.
If not, he may be here forever!!!
It could be worse though because he works in Decatur and between work hours and the drive he is gone about ten hours. Then he is involved in the church which takes up a lot of his time so basically he is here to sleep.
On the good side, DH has had a lot of health problems and son has been a lot of help. :)

I had to raise their rent to get rid of them. On Jan 1st (a few years ago) I started charging them $150.00 per month rent. You would have though that I shot the Pope. I told them then that they had one year and that their rent would go up the next Jan. "How much?" he asked. $650.00 I said. "Holy Crap,,, You can't do that dad",,,,,,,, sure I can, watch. The youngest (then 20) found an apartment in about 4 months. The oldest (then 22) did the math on what a new apartment would cost and what he was paying me and stayed till December.

Oh son pays rent although it's probably just enough to cover what it cost extra for him being here.
Why is it they think they can still depend on Mom & Dad to carry the load for them?

More than likely it's because up till now you always have. Or your just cheaper than the real world.
