Woo Hoo indeed.
I think a thread named "Free Whiskey" might get a lot of traffic. People like getting things for free, especially booze. Whether they'll stay when they find out that's not what the title means is another matter.

I was going with the thread name "Free Whiskey Yesterday".... like the signs you see in pubs "Free Beer Yesterday" so it would be a funny title and they wouldn't get the wrong idea.....

Ask Angus, Whis. Maybe what we are doing now is fine with management, as long as we also keep the original purpose of this thread, which we have.
What I think, is that if we don't do some chatting in the thread, then new pre-vets will think it's a dead thread. If we do too much chatting, then management may think that its' a chat thread. We have kept to the purpose of this thread and that's to welcome new vets to the vets forum. As long as that's the primary reason that we are here, it should all be good, but Whis may want to check with Angus to make sure, so that we don't lose our sticky status, or get moved to the Outside.

I have been trying to say this all along Jerry...You hit the nail on the head...But I think some thought I was picking....
Whis, I would think that a good 50% of the chatter on this thread, is connected to our purpose of welcoming the new veterans. Even this conversation that we are having now, is connected to that and is not just idle chit chat.
Just remember, my birthday is coming up soon enough and while I wasn't planning on making a big deal of it, I could change my mind. How does Granny Clampett sound to your ladies, or maybe a "bugeyes" theme ???
