The cost of things have gone way up from that time except the wages. I was making 12 bucks an hour in 1980 to do front end alignments on cars. I would do 15 per day, They paid 1 hour each. and go home at 1:00 so back then I was making 180 dollars a day for working 5 hours. The alignment cost the customer 19.95. Today they pay the mechanic about 10 dollars per hour and charge the customer 200 bucks.

My head just exploded, too....

I honestly can't remember how much my parents shelled out for my high school graduation. It was probably a couple hundred bucks.

Back in '01 (right before 9/11) I was making $16.75/hour to watch data download and make sure it was directed to the correct database servers. It was a cake job that paid well for the time. After 9/11, the entire night crew was laid off because most of our clients were either in the Pentagon or the World Trade Center. I said good-bye to the jobs that paid decent money and went back to making $10/hour. I didn't start making decent money again until I started working for my current employer back in 2008.

Please read the first post of this thread, this post and PreVet FAQs.

For those starting Welcome and Sandbox threads: They should be started EARLY morning the day before. If that is not possible, the night before.

Welcome to the ECF Pre-Vet thread!

This thread was started by ECF member Whiskey and soon turned into a thread where members can celebrate obtaining their ECF veteran's status.
Besides celebrating this milestone day on this thread, we schedule the events and keep a schedule list.

No one is automatically added to the list so if you're a non vet, you have to request to be added. How to do this and to check out your options (which can vary), please visit. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/wellness-wrecked-bonkers/97885-prevet-faqs.html

All members, new and old, are free to join these celebrations. Vets can post in the Welcome threads in the Veteran's Forum but non vets can't because non vets can not see that forum yet. For non vets to get a post into the Welcome Thread in the Veteran's Forum follow the Sandbox instructions in PreVet FAQs.

I post this list frequently on this thread.
List can also be found here: PreVet List: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...rs/115895-group-news-notices.html#post3443853
