So I bought a Volcano kit.

First of all the USB/wall battery charger did not work right off the bat. I sent them an email, they replied saying they will start "a warranty process" and that was it, no further communications. It was 6 days ago.

The plastic pack works, BUT

- the battery runs out very very quickly, basically enough for one use only

- the cigarette is very inconsistent, sometimes(rarely) I get a good amount of vapor, usually it's very weak and it's a frustrating exercise to suck on it and get almost nothing

- the cartridge (still don't remember what those are called :)) which their website say is an equivalent of one cigarette pack is not even one cigarette in my experience

- taste is meh, i got 'tobacco' and 'menthol' and both are BITTER and have an unpleasant aftertaste

- the pack looks very cheap and poorly made, included manual did not match the actual thing I received.

I searched this forum and there are mostly good comments about Volcano stuff, that worries me, is this as good as it gets? I need something MUCH better :)

I'm looking for:

- long battery life or at least multiple batteries and an easy way to charge them
- well designed and well made non-flimsy accessories, not the amateurish stuff I got from Volcano
- a reliable online store (this site has a page with millions links to stores which all look like shady enterprises - it does not help me)
- BIG hot vapor
- good smooth taste, and i don't want liquids made in China
- it should look more or less like a regular cigarette, 100s size is fine, but not like a fat pipe or something

Please, help?

Okay, a few points:

-Cig style batteries will only last 1-2 hours.
-Accessories (carto's?) can be bought from anywhere as long as they are the correct threading. (I believe the model you have is 510, verify before buying anything)
-E liquid taste is subjective, and there any many vendors to try from to find the one you like.
-A filled carto/cart is not equal to a pack, and I didn't see that written on volcano's website either.

Really if you want something with better performance overall you should look into a larger model like the ego/kgo/riva.

agree with spicyed
most vapers will not use anything smaller than an ego/kgo/riva battery = vapor
If you really want to quit ciggs it will require some learning and adjusting
almost all ppl want small ecig when first starting but soon change up to larger pv's
did you like the first cigg you had?. my advice is read, read, read, and ask questions.
youtube is also a big help in visually understanding new things

Sounds like you had all the bad newbie experiences all in one go. Price, quality, disappointment ..etc.
Don't worry, most of us have been through that.

An e-cig that looks like a normal cig and performs the way you want is the holy grail.

For vaping quality you need a battery mod. These can range from really expensive (VV circuitry, aluminium casings.. etc) to surprisingly cheap DIY box mods) but they look nothing like a normal cig. The advantage they have is long battery life and ability to deliver a higher current either by an increase in voltage and/or using LR/HV atties. You can also replace the batteries yourself.

Normal cig look-alikes do not perform even half as well as a mod. They can give you temporary satisfaction though they are better then nothing. I normally use them when I have to vape in public so's not to drawn attention. The best model I've found is the RN4081, but it's a hit and miss with all the clones out there and volcano is no exception. Another alternative is a KR808D brown cartomizer+white battery (rare).

And then there's the e-juice. Good e-juice is normally expensive, and the cartridge packs that come with kits are normally horrible. So be prepared to buy separately.

I am not going to go as far as to say all of the suppliers listed on ECF are perfect, and some of the sites do look a little amateurish. Don't discount the product just because the site isn't impressive, though. Many of the most professional looking and well marketed electronic cigarette retailers are selling some of the worst equipment, while some of the best equipment comes from pretty basic looking shopping cart templates. I have to agree with your frustration regarding information not matching the product. We still see way too much of that.

Which model did you get? They have 3 models. If you bought the one called "Volcano" then my suggestion is

- Do not buy mystery models
- Do not buy automatic batteries

And as soon as you know you like and depend on an ecig, buy spares of EVERYTHING including the charger.

If you want a small ecig buy MANUAL Joye 510 and use blank Boge 3 ohm cartomizers on it for your favorite thinner juices (NiteLiteVapor.us has black Boges and the hard to find white and tan Boges). This is also what the Volcano Magma is but I don't know if theirs is Joye brand or clone. Nice PCC here Smart PCC Charger 510 Ecigcharleston.com in Charleston South Carolina and be aware 510 has short battery life (180mah) but when you get a small ecig you get short battery life.

or

Look at Vapor4Life and SmokelessImage manuals (KR808D-1) and I recommend the standard/78mm manuals for a 120mm ecig

And a cartomizer do NOT equal a pack, especially not a prefilled cartomizer. Most feel a carto is about 10 cigarettes. And that's a normal 1ml carto, not mystery tiny ecig carto. And a cartridge that goes on an atomizer holds about 1/2 what a cartomizer holds (though it's more necessary to keep a cartomizer damp since they cannot be restuffed and have limited lives).

Thanks, guys!

Any good online stores to buy ego/kgo/riva? Any models/versions made in USA? I really don't want to deal with not working, cheap Chinese stuff :)

Ikenvape looks too monstrous :) I'm not ready yet.

Also, KR8 XL, how is it vapor-wise?

THANKS!

I would get a Riva or a KGO.

You can purchase the Riva at liberty flights for 29.99 (click the 20% off on the top left)
Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Riva 510

It appears most are out of stock but you could email them and see when they'll have them available.

Here's the KGO
KGO 1100 mAh 2 battery kit

There's a $10 difference in price, but the KGO battery is bigger- 1100 vs 650. About an hour per 100 mah.

Get a box of boge 2.0 cartomizers or two and a couple of drip tips.

Then get some good quality juice. I've never tried this but it's extremely popular here.

If that is the kit you want, I'd get it from Cignot.

https://www.cignot.com/product_p/kit-ego-all.htm

At least they offer a 2 month warranty and they give great CS. Nothing against NLV but I wouldn't buy a kit that only offered a 7 day warranty.

Thanks! Haven't decided yet, but you guys been very helpful. I will buy something of ego/kgo/riva kind, I think.

So people say I should get a manual ecig. What is the problem with automatic models?

Most automatics have an open end on the battery and when juice gets into the battery it will ruin the battery. Also you get a better vape with a manual because you control the inhale.

If you want an automatic battery in the bigger model, I think the GoGo and maybe the Echo come in a manual battery. I've never heard of issues with them so maybe it's a closed end battery and juice doesn't get into the battery.

yes, I'm throwing it away. don't like it at all :) no big deal. I expected I won't like the first one i buy.

I would hold onto it. I don't know if it's a KR808 or 510. If it's a 510 and you decide to get an ego type pv, you can use the cartomizers on it, provided they aren't low resistance.

I have a mini I use when I walk the dog or go shopping. It wouldn't have been enough for me when I first started vaping to get off cigs. But now I sort of like it except for the limitations- can't use LR cartos and short battery life.

vapor-pure is selling Riva starter kits, with 18ml of eliquid, for $26. I had positive experience with them when I bought a few of their kits just after they opened a year ago.

They also have normal (smaller) 510 kits, again with 18ml total of eliquid, for $17. As others have said, you cannot use the more satisfying 2 ohm cartomizers with smaller 510s, and battery life is a bit blecchy, but if you really prefer cigarette form factor they are an option.

The other common connector family is KR808D-1. Vapornine's nebula starter kit is $8 -- one 808 auto battery, USB charger, 2 prefilled 16mg/ml cartomizers. Good if you want to just see what an 808 is like, and their shipping is pretty cheap. No USB power supply, use a PC USB or extra cell phone wall wart to power the charger.
