I'm brand new at this DIY thing and before ordering supplies I want to check if costs are reasonable.

PG & VG from http://www.essentialdepot.com

PG: 3785 mL = $26.50
VG: 3785 mL = $26.50

Price per mL = $0.014

Nic from http://www.nicvape.com

500 mL of 25mg/mL = $26.10

Cost to make 1000 mL of 12% 80/20 = $0.064/mL.

The reason for the extravagant purchase of PG&VG is that it's way cheaper to buy in gallons and it's a free shipping offer. I have co-workers who vape so I'll give them the excess at cost.

So, is 6 cents/mL about right? What does everyone else pay if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks!

Hi AzPlumber. I hear you about the cost of flavoring. I'm still bouncing between a number of websites comparing prices/shipping etc. I don't have a huge need for variety so I'm just going to order small sizes of flavors I already like and mess around until I find a few I really like.

Honestly, after doing some research I'm a little shocked at the mark-up on pre-mixed e-juice. It's pretty high. I don't see a need to pay that if I don't have to.

I costs me about $6 to make 30ml. That's not including flavoring and at 36mg. That's .05¢per ml

Actually, that's about .20 cents per mL (.20 x 30 = 6.00). It's 3x more nic than mine though, so that's pretty close considering the nic difference.

I think I'm going to proceed with my purchase plan; seems like pretty close to the best value I'm going to find. Thanks, Murdock!

12% is 120mg/ml. I saw it in the title of the thread.

little bitty errors are waiting for you :)

I don't understand. I am buying 500mL of 25mg/mL. The cost is $26.10. The end result I want is 12%. I mix 480mL nic with 520mL of PG/VG, which makes 1000mL of 12% nic, 80/20 PG/VG. Where did I go wrong there?

Lord, I hate math!

I also noticed that your pg/vg should be .007 per ml 26.50 divide by 3785 = .007. Didn't bother to check the nic calc., it's sunday evening and i'm lethargic

Oh, wow you are absolutely right. That means my nic/PG/VG base is only 2.7 cents per mL. Can that possibly be right??? This is giving me a headache. Lol.

I think what Rocketman is refering to is the 12%. 12% nic is actually 120 mg/ml and not something you want to vape. 12 mg/ml is a 1.2% concentration.

Looks like your cost per ml minus any flavoring is around 3 cents. Using 12.5 mg/ml half of each ml will be nic base @ $0.0265 and the other half pg or vg @ $0.0035.

Right, I see. So the formula is correct, but the terminology is 12mg/mL, not 12%? I understand. I think. LOL!

No, I would never vape 120mg. I'm only using 6mg at the moment and don't really even want to handle the 25mg, but it's the lowest formulation I can find so far. I figure nothing bad can happen if I mess up with the 25mg/mL.

You've been a great help, AzPlumber, thank you. And I'm a her BTW, not a him. :)

I apologize if I referred to a gender, try not to do that. Being a user you should be fine handling 25mg nic just watch out for any little ones as they will be less tolerant. Just clean up everything with a damp cloth that can't be washed off.
