That's so depressing. I wasn't planning on doing any labor work other than soldering. I know it's a modders mod but then again it sucks to see that your mod is not plug and play.

My body has the same issue as confirmed by gdeal. I might assemble it and get some kind of stick to change wattage :)

Aal....dont get depressed...you have a WSF model. All you will need to do is increase the external diameter of your tact holes. Use a conical diamond bit or take a rounded file and make a chamfer. You only need a 1mm or so. Should take about 1 minute to do with conical bit or 5 minutes with a file.

I have needle files that should be easy. Was skeptical about sanding down the internals. I just measured and I got 1.73 the same number you got. But will try the holes method first maybe it will be enough. Thanks.

Unless....... you have already painted it, then you are taking off the paint. :(

Good suggestions for modding. Can you show a picture of the newer Red material? I just received a polished blue model and the material is noticeably smoother and has a softer feel to it. Sounds like the exact opposite of what you have seen. Here is a closeup around the squonk hole.

Can't, she is on a sightseeing tour... I'll do so when she comes back.

True, but he has unfinished WSF.

If you have a finished device, then I would sand the bottom of the internals. And then do the cut out on the tact hole in the internal part for that little shoulder on the tact switch like I did on my black painted version. You can pick up a lot of meaningful space.

Hehehe, it is sort of funny when we refer to 3 hairs as a lot of meaningful space......

I have already sand the bottom of the internals, so it looks like notching out the hole, or trying to mill down the inside of the shell are my best options.

No no no! This is for those who ordered dyed or painted it. If you have WSF or (I believe - someone confirm) metallic plastic a.k.a. alumide, you can just sand down the round indent surrounding the two holes for the switches on the bottom exterior of the shell. You can even, if you have enough dexterity, try to create the small crater-like indents as you see on my purple.

This should be very very easy to do, just takes some time, as it is best to do it by hand using sandpaper.

If all I had to do is solder the wires, then I would be unhappy. I love building and making things work. It's actually my job to do so, I'm a gunsmith!

I know that there are people here that can't do anything, they can barely get over the fact they have solder the wires, I know it can be hard. That's why I say if you don't think you can do this work or might want to alleviate the headache or doubt in your craftsmanship, I offer my labor to those in need.

I'm a gunsmith and I have a full machine shop here at my disposal, I also paint with airbrushes and use both CeraKote and Duracoat. I would be happy to help any members here in putting theirs together. I won't charge any money, except if you want me paint, I only ask for $5.80 for return shipping (any additional for insurance).

Wire and solder will be free of course!........ I know that there is still a couple weeks until we get our parts from the GB, in the meantime, if anybody would like to contact me for info please feel free to do so.

Do you have any pics of a cerakote or duracoat painted GDNA? Are you able to paint these mods so they are smooth and glossy?

I do not know much about painting or these paints in particular, nor the effort involved in painting something textured. However I am looking to get body's and top caps painted in gun metal grey, but I'm going for a smooth and glossy look. I was thinking of going to a auto paint shop, but I like the durability of the cerakote.

This is one of the reasons I like dealing with wood, especially when I outsource the prepping of my wood to my Dad. Every mod I build is identical and perfect.

It gets ship to my dad in this form

When I get it from him, it's in this form

Perfect everytime and identical lol

Hehehe, that wasnt intentional, its not even my Mod, it just happened to be the best example I have seen of a smooth finish on SWF.

Just drummin' up business for your future co-ops, I see!

I saw that picture on FB, and it is exactly as I suspected - he's going mainstream. And, about time, too. There's a couple more folks on ECF who I'd love to see do the same, show existing mod makers what's what.

And I'll run the company for them, for a nice, Wall Street Fat Cat cut.

Shapeways new pricing impact.

There as too many combination of how you can put a device together but here are a couple of loose examples. Assuming using WSF as the internal, here is about what will happen for the following complete sets-up in certain materials.

White will increase ~$6
Black will stay about the same
Alumide will increase ~$17
White Polished will increase ~$4

Colors look very similar to White Polished.
Stainless steel rings will decrease ~$2

I would not wait if you want extra or a spare WSF Internals. That looks like ~ $8-9 increase just for that one model and is driving the majority of the cost increase for all models except Alumide. Shapeways will soon be charging per part in a model, vs currently where the entire model is considered one part. Also, Alumide material cost skyrocketed, I would not wait if I was getting that material.

On a side note, I has special request for the Internals in Alumide...that model will increase by $14!!!! If someone really wants Alumide Internals, I would run for that one.

I guess we are not one of the "75% of all customers that will see a price improvement" :(
