Well, within reason. Most of the beta group had good results with 28, 30, and 32g, however there were some exotic coils made with other gauges. Dual coils, twisted wire etc.

With Temp Protection, the wire never gets hot enough to pop. It wont glow. You can use any wick material you like. The vaporization point of ejuice is below the char point of the wicks we use.

Yes, I found that 28g and 30g works best for vaporization surface area and responsiveness. But the way the chip works, regardless of your wattage setting, it will dump full power into the coil when you press the fire button until it hits the set temp, then it maintains temp at the set wattage level. So with 40 watts available, there is really no lag at all even if you like to use a lower power setting.

Isn't Nickel highly toxic to the human body? I really don't know but that was always my thinking.

Good to hear because I just ordered some 28g and some 30g. I figure it might get scarce here soon so wanted to grab some before it becomes hard to find.

Yes, you can turn "Temp Protection" off to do that, it is selectable.

You can turn off temp protection, but I dont see a need to ever dry burn a coil again. Since your temp stays around the vaporization point you really dont get that much build up. I use VG juice with a bit of peppermint 5%. This is my coil/wick after a week of so of daily use...maybe about 50mls?

It really has no build up, just a bit of carmelization...I am keeping this one going to see how long it really will last with out affecting flavor.

Actually contact coils might benefit this board. You would reach temperature at lower watts. Also it might be counter productive. New way of thinking boys!!

Not sure I understand the term "contact coil". Is this the same as micro-coil where all the coils touch each other? If so NI200 does work for that.

This is a vertical NI200 micro coil with a Lyocell packing around it on a Taifun.
